Avianca 787-8 New! Insignia Business Class Trip Report

@avianca's latest Insignia 2.0 Business Class experience is now live, featuring enhanced bedding, exclusive menus and locally crafted amenity kits. Dispelling the previous image of a paired-back experience, Latin American airline Avianca is now just as good as other international carriers.

Both on the 787 and the A320neo, the experience exceeded our expectations. While it's no world leader, it's certainly now on track to be a decent international carrier, with just a few more small tweaks the carrier has every opportunity to reclaim its crown as an industry standard carrier, no different to Iberia, Lufthansa or United.

Nearly 30 years since I last travelled with them. Can see from your report that they're definitely putting the effort in and have a few extra touches. Avianca is really putting an effort in their soft product trying to recover their premium market who was severely damaged during COVID cut costs. There’s still some downfalls however like crew training or lounges in BOG. Its a shame you couldn’t fly it directly from their hub in Bogota, ex-Colombia flights to Europe are being catered by #33 world 50 best restaurant “el Chato” and are heavily inspired by Colombian ingredients, one of the best meals I had in business recently.

very nice and interesting review. similar to you, the avianca i had come to expect from observing their transformation from good, maybe even great full service carrier to glorified lcc and seeing other frankly mediocre, bad, or downright terrible reviews was not the one presented in this video. especially surprised to see excellent flight attendants/service on both flights and the meal service on the miami sector. i only wish they had retrofitted the business class seats along with economy on the 787, as they are quite dated and could use with a couple very key improvements, especially a modern ife system and usb c, but i do understand why they chose not to for cost and time savings. i was really impressed by the soft product you displayed; the woes of the new avianca seats are known and cannot be fixed, at least in the medium term, but im glad to see, at least judging by your experience, that their business class is still up to standard. only wish the same could be said for economy, but oh well

Really basic, I would prefer to flight in Polaris by United. This cabin feels so outdated, I hope the price was fair and cheaper than the other major carriers. New sub, I love this type of videos, you're a great videographer. I'm hoping to become a FA for one the major airlines in the US.

Avianca is now an LCC carrier as expressed by CEO/CFO years ago. The corporate premium market was brushed away through multiple actions. This is the result…the hardware of a basic business class for the widebody fleet only, with a minimal service, food, amenities, ground experience, etc. That said, pricing is not LCC.

I would have asked for Champagne for a good portion of the flight. I always feel that they want to put you to sleep, so that there is less work for them
