Piazza San Marco in Venice, Italy, is extremely beautiful and one of the most famous places in the world. Piazza San Marco in the heart of Venice is the largest square and the only “piazza” in Venice. The other squares in Venice are called “piazzales” or “campos”. St. Mark's Square was established during the ninth century, but adopted its current form and size (180 m long and 70 m wide) in 1177. St. Mark's Basilica (Basilica di San Marco) located on the eastern end of Saint Mark's Square, is the most important tourist attraction in the square. The basilica was built in its original form in 829 and was consecrated in 832. The present structure is the third church, begun probably in 1063 combining a mix of architectural styles from Middle-Byzantine, Romanesque, to Islamic influences and also Gothic elements which were later incorporated. In 1807 Saint Mark’s Basilica became the city’s cathedral, and since then, it is the centre of religious life in Venice.

Other famous attractions in Piazza San Marco are the Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the bell tower of St. Mark’s Basilica (Campanile di San Marco), the Clock Tower (Torre dell’ Orologio), Museo Correr, Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana, the Columns of Saint Mark and Saint Theodore and even the famous Caffè Florian, one of the oldest bars in Italy which dates back to 1720.

The bell tower of St. Mark’s Basilica (Campanile di San Marco) is the tallest building in Venice, standing 98.6 m tall, dates from 1515 in its present form.

The Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale) was originally a fortified castle founded between the tenth and eleventh centuries. The palace was rebuilt between 1172 and 1178, when it was used as a fortress and prison. This impressive building combines different architectural styles, including Byzantine, Gothic and Renaissance.

The Clock Tower (Torre dell’ Orologio) is an early Renaissance building on the north side of the Piazza San Marco. The tower contains the clock, both them dating from the last decade of the 15th century. The clock was placed to be visible from the waters of the lagoon. Two bronze figures representing Moors strike the hour, and during Ascension week and Epiphany, statues of the Three Wise Men and an angel emerge from the clock tower to strike the hour.

Along the southside of the square, Museo Correr houses rich and varied collections that reflect the Venetian culture, history and art.

The Columns of Saint Mark and Saint Theodore made of granite and marble are placed near the entrance of the square from 1172.

One of the world’s oldest tourist and cultural centres, Venice is renowned not only for its beauty but also for its Venetian glass produced in the Island of Murano and the lace produced in the Island of Burano.

Praça de S Marcos em Veneza começa o carnaval a partir da meia noite passa o ano e já cheira a carnaval os trajos de Veneza são maravilhosos e Veneza é linda obrigado Dante por este lindo video e já agora lhe desejo um ano que vai entrar cheio de saúde e que todos os teus projetos se realizem 🎉

Dante ho avuto una fine dell'anno favolosa a casa di mio figlio con la sua famiglia ed i suoi amici più cari. Verso sera dopo aver giocato a carte e perso ci siamo messi a fare il Karaoche. Bellissimo ho cantato come non cantavo da anni tutte canzoni degli anni 60/70 ed ho dato sfogo alla mia vocazione canterina insieme ai ragazzi che con il loro vocione coprivano alcune mie stonature. Ragazzi molto simpatici che vivono nello stesso palazzo di mio figlio a due passi da dove abito io, molto cortesi con mogli e figli e mi facevano scegliere le canzoni. Poi a mezzanotte siamo andati sul terrazzo a vedere i fuochi di artificio eccezionali, ci sono persone che hanno questa passione tradizione in particolare persone del Sud Italia. Noi avevamo le stelline😅. Poi terminato lo spettacolo siamo riandati a casa di mio figlio che ha la moglie di origini salentine molto attaccata alle tradizioni, ed abbiamo mangiato le lenticchie, altra tradizione italiana perché si dice che portino bene e soldi. Oggi da sola ho fatto una altra pentolata di lenticchie e mi ritrovo nel 2025 felice e contenta. Tu cosa hai fatto di bello? Mi sembra di aver capito che la vostra tradizione sia di preparare i canti natalizi spero che anche tu abbia partecipato. Ecco qua il mio resoconto di Capodanno. C'è ancora da festeggiare la Befana con le calze piene di dolci, regali e carbone per i bambini un poco bricconcelli, non so se conosci questa parola la diceva sempre mio padre di origini emiliane, la sua famiglia quindi miei nonni e zii sono scesi dall'Austria. Ora basta se ti va di leggere ce ne vorrà del tempo rubato ai tuoi video, io mentre scrivo ascolto il tuo meraviglioso valzer che mi fa compagnia. Ciao Dante buona fine 2024 e buon inizio 2025 con il Carnevale di Venezia che ci proponi per festeggiare, carnevale unico nel suo genere con maschere fantastiche accuratamente preparate nel giro di 1 anno di lavoro. Magnifico video❤ magnifica Venezia, la sua laguna e piazza San Marco dove le maschere sfilano con orgoglio e piacere di mostrare ciò che hanno creato con tanto amore e passione.
