On July 19th, 1989, the United Airlines Flight 232 crashed in Sioux City, Iowa. The flight was a DC-10 aircraft that experienced a catastrophic failure of its tail-mounted engine, which led to the loss of all hydraulic flight controls. Despite the difficult circumstances, the crew made remarkable efforts to bring the aircraft down safely. The crash resulted in 111 fatalities, but 185 passengers and crew members survived, largely due to the skill and quick thinking of the flight crew during the emergency landing.
