That was my favorite couple 😢😭 and I cried a bit at this scene like they literally thought if the fixed the life boat they could still be together but now they can’t. She remembers nothing and if he tried something on her he would be a pedo. 😭

For those who don’t understand what’s happening. This is from a TV show called manifest in the last episode. This guy and a whole bunch of other people on a plane skipped through time. When their plane landed, it’s five years in the future, but no one on the plane has aged. That little girl when he meets her is 16 and he’s 18. Throughout the show they fall in love. But by the end of the show all the people who were on the plane in the first episode get back on a plane and go back in time to where they should have been. So when he meets the girl again she’s 11 and he is 18. In this scene he realizes who she is and he is saying goodbye to her.

Everyone is explaining this scene wrong. For the confused people (SPOILER ALERT):
TJ and Olive met at the airport in Jamaica in 2013: TJ is 19 (He was in his second year of college, I believe), and Olive is 12 (?). He was being friendly (because he's a sweetheart!) and noticed she was reading one of his favorite books, so he introduced her to Catcher in the Rye (or another classic, I don't know, that's not important). She started crushing on him, but obviously, she was a child, so he didn't see her like that. He was just being kind. Olive, her mom, and her grandparents took one plane home to NY, while her brother, dad, and aunt (and TJ) stayed and took the later Flight 828. The plane enters something similar to a bend in space and time (the "bright, burning blue") and "disappears." For the passengers, no time has passed, but on the ground, the world continued to age. When they landed, 5 1/2 years had passed. Olive is now 17 (?), and TJ is still 19 (?). They met again when they worked together to solve the mystery of the plane's disappearance and the visions (or "callings") the returned passengers were having. That's when they fell for each other. Olive remembered him because she always had a crush on him. But TJ only had a vague memory of the little girl he talked to. They dated in season two before TJ left for Egypt to look for more clues on how they can survive their "death date" (all the returned have an expiration date.) He returned in the final season 4, and they started dating again. To survive the "death date", they had to get back onto the returned Flight 828 and fly back into the "bright, burning blue", basically flying back into time. When they land, they are back in 2013. To everyone else, they had just gotten on the flight and landed, nothing weird. But the passengers still remember everything they went through. Hence, why TJ still remembers Olive and everything they went through, but Olive sees him as the cute guy that gave her a book. He's forced to move on from her, as, you know, she's a child.
The ending pissed me off! They went through almost three seasons of ups and downs for everything to be erased. Viewers like to believe that maybe in 10/15 years, they'll find each other and be reconnected.

don't worry he's not a pedo, here's the explanation.

They met at the airport many, many years before (in reality, this is the same year, but he has already experienced it all) and he got on a plane that went missing for five years. The little girl (Olive), had family on the plane with him. When her family and TJ (the boy) got off the plane in 2018, Olive recognizes him, but he didn't remember. Years of working together and he finally remembered her, and they got really close. They were dating for a while, but at the same time they were trying to stop the end of the world. When they did stop the end of the world, they all got on the same plane that went missing. Since Olive wasn't an original passenger, she didn't remember TJ, but TJ remembers all the times they spent together trying to save the world. The end of the series altogether was a pretty good one, but I'm devastated they don't get to be together again.

I would like to believe that in the present (2013) it's not possible for them to be together, but in the future their age difference won't matter and they will eventually come together. I literally cried during this scene....it was so heartbreaking. The ending of manifest was a bit of bittersweet but that was the right way to end it. Things might change in the future bcoz the past has changed but I really believe that all those who are meant to be together will find their ways to each other. Like Olive-TJ and Jared-Drea.

This is why I had mixed feelings about the ending 😭 I kind of wish they all remembered everything but I know it makes more sense that only the passengers on the flight do. It just sucks bc TJ and Olive genuinely loved each other

I have just finished watching it my god (no pun intended) is the best fricking show I have ever seen in my life. I almost cried, genuinely. The highs and lows of the show ultimately leading to that ending was so worth it… I cannot explain how genuinely brilliant yet bittersweet that ending was, plus the whole show. I could rant on about it for hours, but if anyone hasn’t seen it, try and watch it, it is so rewarding.

I think its crazy that in order for them to have a happy ending...the ones they left in the future are going to be devastated...Olive is left to raise eden alone etc.
