When I came to the US, I was surprised that there is more expensive Mexican Coke on the menu. I decided to find out why would Americans pay more for this one.

Would you pay more for Mexican Coke? Which one do you prefer?

I can taste the difference in a heartbeat. I'm old enough to remember Coke before they changed from sugar to HFCS. When I have a Mexican Coke, my childhood memory is immediately activated, saying, "Yes, that's how Coke is supposed to taste".

Also, glass is chemically inert, and thus, you get the true taste of what you are drinking

fun fact: outside of certain resturants. you can get the best american coke, sold by a clerk in an alleyway next to the shop, the "Colombian Coke" while expensive, is something so much better than normal coke that you'll be feeling better, higher tolerance to drugs and even help you lose weight, as its so good you'll stop eating for a good bit!

i think it’s harder to taste the difference when you’re drinking them one after the other. but if you go your whole life drinking American coke and try Mexican…it’s like being a wee babe and opening your eyes for the first time

There's such a taste difference to me that I can't even drink the American Coke anymore. It's very shocking that you didn't notice any of that.

Also in a lot of mexican coke bottler factories they use spring water, in most of american bottler factories they use regular tap water

I’ll take Mexican Coke. Cane sugar is a little bit better than high fructose corn syrup.

I definitely taste a difference, I'm a Pepsi girl, but Mexican Coke tastes very similar for me so I actually go out of my way to get it when it's available

Because I grew up chewing on cane sugar for a snack as a kid, I can most definitely taste the cane sugar in the coke instantly. I guess it's about being able to single out the flavor and recognizing it.

I’m no longer trust her on food or drink after this🤣🤣🤣

I believe the only people who claim they can taste the difference, by wide parity, are those who already have a predisposed bias against American coke, simply because it’s American. I’m from Mexico, and even I can’t tell the difference. I have even tasted both variants side-by-side and could not distinguish the two

It might be a Mexican coke nowadays, but it’s the original American coke recipe.

Mexican Coca-Cola. It tastes better in a glass bottle because glass preserves the carbonation and flavor of Coca-Cola better than plastic or metal. Glass does not react with or impart any flavor or odor to Coca-Cola.
