Wargame: AirLand Battle, is unveiled for the first time in this teaser video ! Planned for released for 2013, Wargame: AirLand Battle will bring the series to a brand new dimension. Today's video gives a glimpse of the spectacular new features to come!

Just like its predecessor, Wagame: AirLand Battle takes players through a series of conflicts commanding NATO and Warsaw Pact troops between 1975 & 1985 at a turning point of the Cold War. In this episode, war rages in Northern Europe, notably Scandinavia, whose architecture and magnificent landscapes are faithfully recreated in the game. Wargame: AirLand Battle allows players to command all military resources of the Cold War era from tanks to planes. A total of 150 planes strengthen the playable arsenal of the game, from fighters to bombers to electronic warfare planes. Four new nations and their vehicles join the original eight from the first installment, making a total of over 750 vehicles and combat units rendered in realistic detail! Wargame: AirLand Battle also brings authenticity to the next level thanks to a new weapons system, better handling of fire effects, and a new Urban Combat Interface (UCI) allowing for battle inside cities.

The solo campaign is composed of several new dynamic campaigns, during which players manage all aspects of battle by leading each squad of the Theater of Operation and making good use of reinforcements and strategic support. Wargame: AirLand Battle still allows customization of armies in solo and multiplayer modes thanks to the 'Deck' system, which is now being enhanced with an integrated 'viewer'. Ultimately, each decision made will have an impact on the tactical outcome of battles and evolution of the global conflict! Prepare to re-enter the Cold War in 2013!

You know what, Looking back at this trailer, does anyone notice that the actual map you get to play in is only the upper left part of the map seen in 0:09. Who knew the original map was bigger. I guess they thought the units would run out of gas before they would reach the enemy, but still, it would've been nice if get to play in this large map. I can only imagine the dogfights here.

no, it's a gamemode where you win by gathering a certain amount of command points with your command vehicles. If you spend some to buy units, they're deducted from your score, but it can be worth it to dislodge the ennemy from a high value point

In an amphibious assault, first the navy bombards the area from a long distance. Then the troops in transport ships hit the beach and disembark. And that is where navy action stops and land action begins.

But lets say hypothetically, it could happen in a practical situation (I am not such a knowledgeable person when it comes to modern warfare to say that this is impossible), they would need to massively increase the size of the maps to accommodate the sea/ocean part of the map.

Wargame is one of the coolest & best RTS game to come along in many years.  I really wish they'd release a MAP EDITOR for the game.  It would also be nice to have some mods, especially a NO POPULATION CAP mod.

I appreciate your comment. That guys comment "Well if its for xbox or ps3 it will look terrible" was uncalled for. Its a great game. Multiplayer is a blast. It even has 10 vs 10 battles that get pretty crazy.

Looks like a nice change from the endless fields of the first game. Very interested to see how this pans out, seeing as now it seems more focused on air battles there will likely be additions to game play. I also am interested to see what alternative histories they create for this game.

Oh my fucking god, that map is absolutely gorgeous.
The engine behind this is something everyone should be both watching and investing in, it's literally incredible.

One cannot simply say it is an expansion, as it's a complete graphical overload with an inclusion of another games worth of units (going from 350 to 750). It is a equal.

this is gonna be awesome, those mountains will make great gameplay

Pretty much. I can't help but feel that this should be DLC rather than a full-priced standalone game. It does look very good, though. The first game was criminally underrated.

At launch they probably won't have mac support at launch, however they will definetly be working on it and won't stop working on the game once it's released- they add lots of patches.

Last autumn they were hoping to release it in march, haven't heard from them since.

Biggest problem with Eugen strategy single player games is the AI. The AI in RUSE (Their best game so far) fail to play the game. They don't use forests or towns for camoflage. They just produce units and throw them at the player. At the start that's ok, but if you've played a week or two it makes them intensely boring to play. If they don't fix the AI anyone who played RUSE won 't play this.

infact, they do! its called entrenchment, while its not proper 'buildings', its still something like a MG nest or better cover for a vehicle/squad.

I hope they may eventually add geographic variety because that will be wonderful (seems like there is already country and mountainous terrain):
- Artic
- Desert
- Jungle
- Large cities

The same reason why BF4 is in the making. The same reason there was a Left 4 Dead 2. The same reason there was a Skyrim. The same reason why any sequel is made. It allows for the company to make a brand new game with brand new ideas, while charging full price to cover the full costs of making a new game.

Now I might be wrong, but there has never been a modern battle when navy and land have actively engaged each other. (cont)

Best strategy game ever = Wargame's graphics engine + Combat Mission's realism.

From the looks of it, seems like this game is going to get much harder now. But it's good. At 0:11, top middle. You can notice the command area. And now that there are major rivers in the middle, seems to me there's the chance of now being able to set your landing zones. Fighting will be harder now because you'll have to work on both sides of the river. This is where the air combat situation comes in. You will be able to now access & direct attacks via CAP / CAS and maybe even fly them.
