I designed this USB Type-C PD (Power Delivery) trigger board based on the INJONIC IP2721. It features an effuse IC, indicator LEDs, TVS diodes for protection and 4 mounting holes. A big part of the reason for doing this project was to learn more about USB power delivery, PCB design and working with SMD components. It also gives me an easy way to power some of my future projects.

Fantastic video Isaac, glad to see you back on YT 😊
I had no idea there were so many inconsistencies and complications with USB-C!

This is great! I love your sense of humor and the video was very helpful to me, it contained exactly the information and examples I was looking for. 👍

Tell me please who bought the first Trigger that was tested, does it have 15 and 20 V for Quick Charge, cable and power supply 20v approved. Pd work 20v, but qc not. Why?

A usb power delivery board that delivers two voltages at the same time, especially 5 and 12 volts, would be extremely useful, for some.

As an electronic guy i can tell u, using a pcb holder or something like Blue Tack, to fix the pcb when soldering ^^

I wonder if one could make a on/off switch cable with power delivery with USB C female input to male output, or USB C male input to female output, vice versa.

thanks, do i need something special to have 5V/3A out on my ebike? or only a 5V regulator or pd board

Can be output voltage set by i2c communication? or i have to use resistors or digital potentiometer?

I'd like to know if the trigger board can be used in a different manner. I have a 12v-to-5v step-down converter for my car and I'd like to connnect Apple's Magsafe puck to it to charge my iPhone. However, the Apple puck will not allow it as it requires the power source to be PD3.0 compliant. Can a trigger be used here to fool Apple's puck and allow the phone to charge?

Could this board send power in the other direction as well?

hello brother first of all ignore the negative comments you are doing great I am bulding something similar to this I just bought 160W vooc one plus charger I just wated to know how to trigger vooc protocol is there any vooc trigger boards or ic's just to trick the charger thinking that 160w vooc device is connected or can I use PD trigger board to trigger super VOOC or VOOC procol

Hi, where do you source the IP2721_MAX12 chip? I cannot find it on Aliexpress. I want only 9V so the normal IP2721 doesn't work for me

Hello issac, I'm new and I'm struggle with this problem for months:
I'd bought various pd trigger board, I want to pull 9v 3A (~27w) from charger/powerbank, but the problem is I can get only 9v 0.3A (2.7w) even when connected to the 60A ESC or a light bulb. The charger and powerbank supported 9v 3A, and can output up to 65W. I can't find solution for this. Can you explain why or give me some keywords to Googling? I found out that some people having the problem like mine, but no appropriate answer/solution yet.

Hi, if we are using one of there boards between a powerbank and a phone, and the phone's battery gets full, would the powerbank "turn off"?
I am trying to make a powerbank to stay ALWAYS ON. To behave as if it was a wall plug and let the phone decide whether it is "taking" power or not. Again, as if it was a wall plug situation.
(Back story: I am recording events with a phone and want to use a big powerbank to continuously supply power to the phone, until the powerbank runs out. Now, when the phone gets full, the bank turns off and then the phone uses the phone battery and nothing triggers the powerbank to turn on again.)
What other solutions do you know of? Any apps out there that can trigger a powerbank when battery is low?
Thank you

u should buy turbine powered hotgun. this shit with thin nozzle from ur video is just for burning pcb`s. also thin nozzle is causing components to fly away.
check quick857dw+ and use nozzle at least 1cm diameter or even without it or u are causing thermal shock of the pcb (thin nozzle with low air pressure and high temperature makes gradient of temperature, that causing problems)
