Being new to Ax 2012 Performance testing, it does make me understand and appreciate the changes and developments gone into the Ax 2012 with respect to performance.

I've worked on several 2012 implementations, and I can say anecdotally that it is definitely not faster than previous versions. There's a lot of talk about infrastructure here, but I think one of the key issues is the extent to which the GL has been over-engineered in terms of the table structure and relationships. The reporting platform/integration is now significantly slower, not to mention considerably more time-consuming to develop with.
