I had to come back here to tell you that this video single-handedly is responsible for me returning to hiking and getting back on the Appalachian Trail for another 100 miles after the first 100 resulted in severe knee pain. Thank you so much! Hips forward when going uphill and walking downhill like you would walk uphill backward changed my life. Just can't thank you enough!

Sir, you are changing my life!!!! I cannot thank you enough! Wish I'd known this earlier in my life. At 71, I am proof that it is never too late to learn to walk a new way. It is so natural. I walked my usual trail for the first time in this new way. It was slower because I wanted to be sure of my foot strike but It proved itself to be more efficient as I finished 5 min earlier than normal. How is that???!!! God bless you and thanks again!

Watching this video, with detailed instructions, well explained, and so helpful, I find myself wondering what is this feeling I get from watching this video, and all of these videos from Grown and Healthy?

I have the feeling of having a Personal Trainer. All these videos are for free and everyone is made with profound experiential and anatomical knowledge and showing excellent skills of communication.

I feel honored watching the videos, because every one of them is made with such high sense of quality, and I am inspired everyday to explore and experiencing my body in a new way whenever I am walking, or working on developing my walking skills.

Thank you!

Can you do a video of walking sideways on a hill? I hurt my knee mowing from side to side on a very steep hill. Thank you for the videos, I can walk with much less knee pain!

Hey Mark since working out the mechanics from your videos I actually made a short video myself today on it using a ramp doing heel toe Vs forefoot forward showing how ridiculous heel works. Thanks again legend love your work

Thanks for these useful tips. Maybe next time you can show us how to walk across a slope? That is more difficult for me to do comfortably.

Hi there.

Having flat feet, I came across your channel to find out how to maintain my arch while walking. I've implemented a lot of what you said. I try to walk 5km every day, and while this was tough the first few days (Engaging muscles that that I have never engaged before, within a week I could feel it becoming simpler. Yesterday, I even managed to improve my time from over an hour to just over 50 minutes.

HOWEVER: Afterwards, I experienced Capsulitis just before my second toe. I did walk with open foot sandals - I never liked normal walking shoes because they always feel uncomfortable. The Capsulitis wasn't serious, it was gone the next day. But some videos says that Capsulitis develop due to a lack of cushioning on your front foot and can get worse if not treated. They also mentioned how this can be worse if you have a bunion, but luckilly I don't have that.

Is there any advice you can give for this?

PS. Two days ago I thought I'd just do a hill strike again for a few seconds to compare the two. I couldn't believe the shock of the impact that I never noticed before.

Great info. I have been using your videos to improve my walking and it has tremendously helped my knee pain.

Currently traveling in Lisbon Portugal and there are lots of steep inclines on cobblestone. Can these mechanics apply when pushing a stroller? I’ve been trying to use a forefoot strike but sometimes too steep to where I must lean back and at worst use a half and half forefoot/heel to keep the stroller from running away.

Thanks again as I just started watching your videos a couple weeks ago as I may have a fallen arch in my left foot which happens to be where my knee pain is. Doc says I have some arthritis in that knee as well. I also compensate with my right leg which has caused the right psoas area to be very tight along with lower back issues on the right.

So am looking to fix this as I have used a heel strike for most of my life.
