If CAT came out with a legit reliable, no frills, diesel powered, affordable pick up truck they'd probably slay the market. Maybe force the other makers to get their shid together.

Maybe Caterpillar sees an opening for a high-quality high-dollar pickup truck as opposed to all the low-quality high-dollar pickup trucks currently being offered.

No matter what ...the MARKET Really NEEDS and wants an affordable no frills $15k-20k ICE PICKUP TRUCK!! Who will do it??

I want International to come back, building no-frills pickups, Scouts, and Travelers.
Standard: power steering, power brakes, pull up locks, roll up windows, wing windows, open source ECU, floor dimmer switch, variable speed wipers, positive rear end.
Options: four wheel drive, radio, automatic transmission, air conditioning, speed control, winch mount.
An aftermarket could develop for customization.

Scotty: If a Caterpillar pickup was anything near as rugged and reliable as their commercial equipment, they would sell a pile of them -- especially to contractors, tradesman, and others who are tired of paying high dollars for so-called "Cowboy Cadillacs".

As for the mpg segment. In my state driving under 40mph on a highway can get you locked up. Thus driving 38 on the highway is not only impossible due to everyone and their short tempers but also because it's illegal!

For a good 30 years of my life the prudent "Financial Rule of Thumb" for buying a NEW Car was to pay no more than 25% of your Gross Annual Income. So now you expect people to afford to pay 200% of gross annual income ($100, 000 pickup trucks) for a new car / truck?? That is a DISASTER waiting to happen. Something has to give!!

If you can't lay a 4x8 sheet of plywood flat in the bed and close the tail-gate then it is not a pick-up, just a big car.

Not sure how a pickup that doesn't actually exist just killed the F150?

Well, the International pickup was, and is, EPIC.

I vividly remember (over 40 years ago) my first driver's education class where the instructor said: "the most important thing to remember if you remember nothing else, is to go with the flow of traffic and not be a hinderance to others on the highway.... or you will cause an accident" Wise words...unless you're trying to set a record for MPG.

I work at caterpillar. This is all news to me.

So, how did CAT's new truck kill the F-150? I only heard him say that CAT doesn't have motive to enter the competitive truck segment.

About 12 years ago Cat tried making a road truck with Iternational (Navistar), it didn't go anywhere. Looks like they're back at it.

If I needed a pick-up, and Caterpillar was making them.. I'd test drive it.... but my 2003 F-150 only has 300, 000 miles on it. So it won't be any time soon.

I watch Scotty on 2x speed. It still seems 100% normal Scotty.🎉

Caterpillar once made *THE BEST* diesel engines for class 8 semi tractors until the feds forced Diesel Exhaust Fluid on the trucking industry and Cat stopped producing the C-16 for semis.
I don't care about the pickup, but I'd sure love for them to resurrect the C-16.

Every time a video opens on this channel things are either getting killed, bankrupt, shocking the industry or terrible news.
