❌You don’t have a low milk supply.

If you have been following me for a while, you will know that there is nothing called ‘low milk supply’ in my dictionary. I believe all mothers are perfectly capable of producing enough milk. You need to learn the right techniques to breastfeed your baby. When you get the techniques right, your milk supply will be normal enough for your baby.

So why are you getting less milk after pumping?
There are so many reasons other than low milk supply.

❌You may not be using a hospital-grade pump
❌Your timing of pumping sessions
❌Incorrect flange size
❌Pump settings may need correction
❌Pumping techniques may need guidance

Trust me. It’s not always a low milk supply. It’s possible to have a good milk supply and still get less milk after pumping.

So how can you check if you have a good milk supply?

✅Your baby is gaining weight steadily
✅They have good urine output and are pooping correctly
✅Your baby will look more satisfied and relaxed after feeding.

If you see these signs, there is nothing to worry. Do not check your supply using a breast pump and get worried.

🔴But if you are struggling with breastfeeding your baby, if they are rejecting your breasts or are taking hours to feed, or if you are experiencing severe pain while feeding, then you need professional help. I recommend consulting a lactation expert.

Mam tell about hand expression. I don't use pump, i usually hand express breast milk. Until 8 weeks postpartum, I could express 60ml on each side per feed. After 8 weeks, my supply looks like it's dropped, I could only express 30ml on each side now. My baby is feeding often throughout the day and feeding for more than 30mins on each side also sometimes stops sucking actively after 15mins, then I have to compress my breast to encourage her to suck.
