I think the minifig is a reference to hip hop group Run DMC popularizing the Adidas Superstar shoes back in the 1980s

Straight out - almost everything is better on this little one - the proportions, that transition from laces to toe-cap, the colours and that cool minifig...only thing is - the little box is really cute but the big one is maybe a tiny tad cooler.

The significance of the boombox and the mic must be connected to the humungous success of the rap group RUN DMC back then. They used to wear the Adidas Superstars kinda like a symbol and it helped Adidas to being tremendously successful, too.

The Adidas became infamous in hip hop when Run-DMC wore them with no laces, the hip hop fig with mic and boom box is a bad ass call back to that💯💯

The radio and microphone is representative of the rap culture. The Adidas shell toe became iconic during the mid 80's by the rap group Run DMC called "My Adidas". It was a hit song in the U.S. and a campaign that really hyped up the Adidas brand in general.

Adidas Superstars were worn by B-Boys(break boys) for breakdancing in the late ‘70s and Early ‘80s. The soles were good for grip with certain moves and could be decorated with laces to match the rest of you outfit or your Crew’s main color.

I ordered 2 for left and right. My son has a lot of collectibles from supreme, 80/90s toys, even has bins of 90s legos from a collector…this would be a perfect addition to his display!

The mic is wireless, and boombox can be tapped into on FM frequency as an amplifier. Though with newer technology that mic boombox combo is more from late 1970s to 80s

LEGO can totally make so much money by doing an entire TINY SHOES series like this one with, NIKE, VANS, CONVERSE, PUMAS....etc O_O i would buy lots them
