“Somewhere out there, there is a mom saying ‘I cannot imagine their pain’ not know it’ll be her pain.” This line is so damn powerful. Im a mom and this is my sentiments exactly. I cannot imagine sending my 5 year old to school and him being returned to me in a body bag. I’d die. I’d literally die. My son is my whole world. I spent 40 whole weeks making him. I’ve spent the last 5 years raising him into the best human he can be. I’ve loved him with every ounce of me. And I couldn’t survive if he was just so violently ripped away from me. It is a miracle these parents are still standing. They deserve better. They deserve significant change. The country as a whole deserves this so no more parents, sisters, brothers, etc… have to go through this.

RIP to all the souls that have been senselessly taken far too soon.

The way Uvalde was handled was absolutely unacceptable.

I was in 8th grade when sandy hook happened and I remember being absolutely mortified that someone would target such little innocent children. My baby brothers were in elementary at the time and I cried so much imagining what life would be like if it had happened at their school. They’re in high school now and nothing has changed. I now have two more brothers one in elementary and one in middle school and all 4 of them come home telling us about the lockdowns and drills they have once a week. It’s heartbreaking that those in power do nothing to stop what’s been happening every year for the past 20 years.

Not sure what's more sad, the fact this happened or the fact that almost nothing is being done to prevent this from happening again

What amazingly eloquent, mature, grounded, and compassionate young people these are. They were forged in terrible fires. Each new school shooting is salt in the wound for them. It really resonated when they talked about the vows they heard at seven, "never again" when it's happened over and over again since. We're betraying our children. It's obscene that we can't enact laws to help keep them safe. They deserve so much more and better from us.

They changed the age of buying cigarettes and other tobacco products . The drinking age is 21. To rent a car is 25. I think they should change the age of buying guns . I know everyone who’s all for guns is going to have something to say about it . How they can join the military and shoot guns at 18. BUT there should be certain circumstances and restrictions to let someone who just turned 18 to buy a gun. I know it’s not much but it could be a start somewhere in all of this. Raise is to 21 like everything else.

“It broke me….”. To that I can relate and understand.
And, to those of us who know the loss and pain of losing someone close, due to gun violence? I think it’s the universal first thought that comes to mind: the family and friends, and loved ones of the victims. That, I think, is natural because you have experienced what they are experiencing. You know that excruciating pain.

I can't imagine how difficult it was and is for those students losing friends to gun/firearm violence. I lost friends over the years to different things, but the worst was when my high school sweetheart passed away of hypothermia. I still have the letter her mom sent to me, and I wrote a poem I titled: Hypothermia's Bite. My prayers are with these young people.

I'm glad those kids were strong enough to share why there needs to be change

Since the lawmakers and their families are well-protected and are not in any danger nothing will be done, nothing will change, and the blood bath will continue...

When Maggie said about losing her best friend Daniel, I was heartbroken.

As someone who was raised around guns their whole life something needs to be done. This is not ok that children go to school and have to practice lockdown drills or an active shooter drill. Back in my day we just had fire drills. It is extremely sad what we have become as a nation and just as humans. My heart goes out to the families of Uvalde and Sandy Hook. I truly hope the families and survivors of Uvalde reach out to the students and families of Sandy Hook. Hopefully things will change but sadly the ones who fight for our rights act like a 4 year olds throwing a tantrum that are so consumed with their own pride and greed.

As a Canadian looking on.... I wish I could give each one of those four survivors of the Sandy Hook incident a hug. May your remaining years of life bring you peace with your future life endeavours. I don't want to imagine how that must feel, already having to live through a traumatic experience of this magnitude at grade school level, and now hearing/reading about it going on in another part of the country all over again as a teenager. Sadly, I feel as though nothing will change. The bloodshed will continue. It's not a matter of IF, but WHEN? Hopefully, not too soon into the future. Having just heard of the massacres in Buffalo and Uvalde occurring not even two weeks apart, makes it beyond concerning to those of us living outside of the U.S. It's going to get to the point where there's not going to be one American in existence who hasn't lost at least one family member to gun violence before change takes effect. And that time isn't going to be long at the rate this trend continues. It saddens me to hear of this happening in what's supposed to be the best country in the world. At this point, I don't care if I offend those who deeply care about their rights to their guns. To me, and I'm sure MILLIONS of others, will perceive this as taking the rights to their guns, taking precedence over the rights of innocent people not to have their lives cut short to senseless, preventable gun violence.

Saw a tik tok of an arts teacher in the us, she was being naive in her video and completely ignorant about how the situation of shooting and school drills were in other countries, simple, we don’t have that kind of thing. She was saying how could there not be this type of education of a gunman shooting actively at an educational institute in many more countries and that we should be prepared and what not, but reality of it is, they never think of how difficult it is in other countries to obtain a gun and therefore so much more rare for a psycho person to willingly go shooting just for the thrill of mass murdering. It’s really sad that the so called ‘freedom’ they have in the country in reality means being trapped in a place that you’re never gonna know when’s your turn to get shot. But I guess they just have to live with that

The interviewer how she asks them and she is somber, serious and remorseful.
I can see she is heartbroken and sad along with them. Love that she is in their side.

I think every legislator who opposes gun legislation should have to walk thru a mass shooting scene that shows them what the guns they allow do.
