As a Flyers fan, the Philadelphia teams TV rights are by Comcast (NBC Sports Philadelphia). They cut a lot of good analysts and studio shows in the past 5 years to the point where they essentially show the games and you get a 30 minute Pre-Post game shows.

When Comcast bought the rights to the teams in 1997 it was like a local 24/7 ESPN. We had great studio shows, highlight shows, interview shows and a lot of good analysts. All gone to budget cuts, so even big markets like Philly are affected by skyrocketing TV rights.

I have always said the regional sports network TV model made no sense, as they just don’t have enough programming to justify a 24/7 sports channel.

Here in the UK we generally have the ESPN or Sportsnet feeds for the games we get to watch over here. The last broadcaster to go out of business over here in UK was Setanta back in 2008. It led to many teams basically going broke.

I feel sorry for the majority of the country that are in that issue and honestly they need Solutions if its going to cost them billions. (My team is on MSG so i have no problem with them.)

As a Leafs fab, the local and national rights are owned by Rogers aka Sportsnet.

There is no "kind of". It's definitely a big deal to all those teams with contracts with Bally Sports. When something involves that much money, there is no gray area. All the "kind of" drives me nuts.
