I can't believe Christopher Plummer is never on these lists. RIP

It's too bad that people don't remember the silent film era. Mary Pickford was the first global superstar, and a pioneer of Hollywood. "America's Sweetheart" was born in Toronto!

Kiefer Sutherland was actually born in the UK because his Canadian born parents were working there at the time of his birth so he has dual citizenship .His maternal grandfather was Scottish-born Canadian politician and former Premier of Saskatchewan Tommy Douglas, who is widely credited for bringing universal health care to Canada.

I see someone has already mentioned Lorne Greene, but two big omissions from your list are Christopher Plummer, and Graham Greene. Chief Dan George should be on there too.

Tangential fun fact: Leslie Nielson's brother, Erik, was the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada for much of the 1980s. Leslie often maintained that Erik was the funny one.

Also Pamela Anderson is Canada's Centennial baby--she was the first child born in Canada on Jan 1, 1967.

Most of the world just does not realize how much talent is or comes out of Canada in general, Chief Dan George, Adam Beech, Taantoo Cardinal, Raymond Burr, Lorne Green ( Bonaanza, original Battlestar Galactica ), Howie Mandel was known more for his stand-up he had an animated series too Bobby's World, Grahem Green ( Dances with Wolves) He hosted a true crime series in Canada too. What you will note on most of these list's ...a lack of their Canadian show's they've been in.

For those of us who are "old movie" and TV fans: Glenn Ford, Raymond Burr, Raymond Massey, Hume Cronyn, Yvonne De Carlo, Marie Dressler, Art Linkletter, Deanna Durbin, Walter Pidgeon, Norma Shearer, Fay Wray. "Scotty" (of Star Trek fame), James Doohan, was also Canadian. And where would Hollywood be without two of the most famous studio-builders of all time... Louis B. Meyer (MGM) and Jack L. Warner of Warner Studios.

As a Canadian we often forget how much acting talent we provide the world, not to mention the singers too

John Candy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Dave Thomas, Martin Short, Rick Moranis, and others started in a small studio together in Edmonton Alberta producing SCTV. Which went on to become SNL's top competition on Saturday NIght's. In fact for a year and a half they consistently beat them in the Ratings throughout the US. This is why so many of them found Hollywood stardom just from that show.

Pamela Anderson was born here on Vancouver Island in the little town of Ladysmilth. David Foster was born here in the beautiful city of Victoria Vancouver Island

Great list, some were forgotten. The ones I recall missing are Lorne Greene ( Bonanza ), Raymond Burr ( Perry Mason ), Nathan Fillion ( The Rookie ) Adam Beach ( Windtalkers ) Graham Greene ( Dances With Wolves ). I know there is more, just can’t bring them to mind now.

Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, John Candy, Martin Short, Rick Morranis, & several others were once part of the same comedy troupe on a sketch show called SCTV (second city tv) together.
That’s where that Bob & Doug McKenzie skit originated.
Apparently they were told they had to increase the Canadian content on the show & they said “what do you want ? Should we put up a map of Canada, dress in plaid, drink beer & talk like hosers eh?” and the producers said yeah that’ll work.

Storytime! Yay! Once upon a time there was a boy from Toronto named Keanu Reeves who dreamt of being an NHL goalie but goalie equipment and hockey camp are expensive so he did a little bit of acting on the side for some extra cash because he had taken some drama classes in school, most notably a Coke ad as a marathon cyclist.
Time Jump time; In the fall of 1984 young Keanu had turned 20 years old and was pursuing his dream of making it in the NHL, he attended the Windsor Spitfires training camp and was eligible for the 1985 NHL Draft (which was when Mario Lemieux went #1 overall to Pittsburgh) when the location scouts for a hockey movie about a fictional minor league team the Hamilton Mustangs called Youngblood came around and asked if any players had acting experience and wanted to be in a movie. Keanu said he did but there was a catch, the filming would be taking place during both the regular season and playoffs of Windor's season. Our young hero had to decide to quit hockey and withdraw from the NHL Draft and go for the role of Heaver, goalie for the Mustangs...he chose the role and never looked back.
Youngblood stars Rob Lowe and Patrick Swayze and was filmed in Canada around Southern Ontario. The USA has Slapshot, a parody of hockey, Canada has Youngblood, a more dramatic and realistic view of the sport as it was in the 1980s with a predictable love story in there somewhere. You should do a movie reaction to it.

My mom went to school with Margot Kidder here in Vancouver. And Rae Dawn Chong is Tommy Chong's daughter.

Pamela Anderson is from Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island. She was discovered during a BC Lions football game on Vancouver when the camera focused on her in the stands. She was then on posters in all the bars as the Labbatt's Blue Girl. Google image has the poster.

One name clearly missing in this list though is Yvonne de Carlo, from Vancouver... Lily Munster, as well as Sephora in The Ten Commandments. It's also missing Michael J. Fox.

Pamela Anderson is from Victoria BC and she was discovered when a camera was panning the audience at a football game in Vancouver and focused on her - someone in the film biz saw her and went after her. The rest as they say, is history.

Another great Canadian actor is Paul Gross. Many Americans might remember him from the show Due South, but there have been quite a few other shows and movies and he has always been a wonderful actor and producer.

A great list Tash. One actress, who I absolutely admire for her range, is Tatiana Maslany. She played the lead in Orphan Black (among many of her credits). I can't believe they missed this talented actress.

Great selection 😊 I supremely enjoyed watching that! Dan Akroyed and Christopher plummer and Michael Ironside were all in a miniseries/docudrama featuring the Canadian Avro Arrow...bitter-sweet historic account of national security and politics.
