I am a 47-year-old liberal white guy. I was raised in a society where I wasn't constantly being dumped on, told that I was the enemy, told that I was flawed, a told that I was toxic and the source of society's problems. But this is now the persistent message that young white men are saturated with -- why are we surprised that some of them will defy all that, thumb their noses and reject it, go completely the opposite direction as a response, and into the embrace of the GQP, who welcomes them instead of scapegoating them for every social problem? Why are we surprised that they are checking out - of dating, of education, of professional careers and raising a family. We have told them they are not welcome here -- of COURSE they're going to be angry and defiant.
