I did aqa psychology and I have been predicted an A*. To revise for psychology I mainly revised in the teaching style. Where you write notes on a white board (I have a large one) or paper and pretend you’re teaching it to someone (I talk out loud to myself in my room). Then rub it off and then reteach it (say it out loud again) as I’m reteaching it I write it down again as well. Then finally I try to say it out for a third time without looking at the white board. But if I need help I quickly look down. I really don’t find flash cards work for me. But this teaching method and mind maps work so well for me.

Furthermore, you don’t need to know all of the researchers names (like the psychologists mentioned in the AO3/ evaluation. You can just say research has show or a psychologist found). Also you do not need to know years and statistics do not need to be exact as long as you say a similar number.

To anyone taking psychology I suggest you look at issues and debates as soon as possible as you can always use it evaluations if you forget some. As to get an A* in A2 you need to have 4-5 thoroughly developed evaluation points.

If anyone would like anymore help or advice you can DM me on Instagram @studywithclair

I’ve just finished Psychology A-Level as a whole and have my results day on the 16th 😭😱! I revised by creating mindmaps and adding cues to them to jog my memory, as well as also having a colour scheme for each section helped me visually remember what goes where, both aqa textbooks (as & a level) have revision summaries after each chapter so i just kept writing those out, adding bits to them and also testing my memory 👍🏻 x

I'm going into year 13 and study Psychology. My best revision tip are flashcards as there is so much content! I also have a whiteboard that enables me to test myself as there are a lot of case studies to learn!

Also I recommend reading ahead. For me I always did this on the train before class unless I’d already made the notes. In my second year I made my notes before class so I already had an understanding. I have digital notes on nearly all of the topics.

I also did the same A2 topics as Rhiannon. I did Forensic psychology, Gender and Schizophrenia as well as issues and debates as I already said I suggests issues and debates even if you’re in AS

This was so useful, thank you! I'm just keeping everything crossed that I get the grades I need to get into psychology 😩

We have virtually opposite experiences! I was one of about 6 people in my class who took GCSE Psychology, and it’s safe to say that pretty much anyone who didn’t reeeally struggled when they started in year 12. At GCSE we learn a lot of social influence & memory topics, a long with some of psychopathology, research methods & some other topics. That’s why we had to work way less to understand because we already knew a lot of studies etc already - also we knew how to phrase and all of our answers, so generally we had way more experience. For my Psychology experience so far, having the GCSE isn’t necessary but is soooo helpful😊

I wrote all my notes as essay plans on every single 16 marker i could get and then transferred them to flash cards and then went through them and wrote each one from memory on a mini whiteboard and sorted it into ‘wrong’ and ‘right’ piles and did the ‘wrong’ pile again and again until i knew it all. I didn’t revise research methods enough so that’s why i think I got an A even though i was predicted and go A*s all year (i’m happy with my A!)

My teacher was practically useless. I have about a sixth of the stuff that you do in my folder. She never gave us PowerPoints, only class activities that were over after five minutes and never get looked at again. My most valuable resource has been my textbook and looking over it by myself. I personally find the content quite easy to remember after having my topic test, so I’m quite lucky that even though I had so little to revise from, I was able to understand it.
