The singing standards in the Philippines is very high, one of the reason it is hard to penetrate and be professional in that industry, at least locally.

Watching reactors like this makes me realise that Filipino talents are super super underrated.

Before David Foster invited Stell and Mori in his concerts, there was this little girl named, Charice Pempenco, who started this trend.

Yes, he is a teacher. He is actually my previous teacher. Here in the Philippines we usually ask if we want to sing or dance during break time or during the first day of school.

One thing I noticed about Tagalog or Filipino Language is that Most(Not All) Filipino/Tagalog songs have notes per syllable and other languages have shorter words than Filipino words that somehow stretch out for several notes. The intricacies of notes per syllable in most Tagalog songs gives a smoother transition going up or down giving songs a delicate and meticulous feel to it; well this works well with Pop/Ballad songs - which are the genre that Filipinos love and somehow convert songs from other genres to convert into.

If you loved that Bob Marley guy singing "one day", you should check Bugoy Drilon of BuDaKel singing "one day"❤

Filipinos are naturally happy people and we like to sing! Kids learn to sing at karaoke before they even go to school. We do karaoke and sing anywhere anytime! How I wish you can come and spend holiday with a Filipino family and sing at karaoke! Mabuhay! Long live! Cheers! This is me… Jolly Jo !

Music is Filipinos way of life u can see people sing while their doing normal household chores, sometimes u see them in malls singing or even outside their houses having street party or alcohol drinking sessions, you can even see some karaoke on buses when it’s a long drive even on classroom breaks ..part of our life I think it probably helps us to alleviate some of our stress ❤😊

Present: I sing @weddings and parties/events

I am a member of choir

Past: as a kid I always sing karaoke, join kids competitions, sing to other events.. and I usually sung female songs because of my sisters picking the song choice...

And yes IT IS VERY HARD TO get singing career in ph because ITS NORMAL TO HAVE A SINGING VOICE in our country.. the singing competitions here are BRUTAL...Imagine.. a kind of singer who losses here in competition can be a Winner at foreign singing competition... that's a fact... that's how brutally hard the competitions here because the competitors is sooo good...

Know how "music" class in other countries are elective classes. In the Philippines, it's one of the subjects we go thro8gh from kindergarten to high school. 😊❤

hello MrSAmmyCam, tbh i'm really just flabbergasted at the fact that the singing culture only happens in the Philippines because most of us think it is rampant in other countries as well (before internet happened of course) since the reason we love singing is to sound as beautiful as the singers we hear on the radio which is mostly international artists. during our primary/elementary and even high school years when teachers (especially homeroom teachers) notice that the lecture is getting boring or if they have something to do other than teach, they organize a little program for the students to showcase our talents. we do singing, dancing, comical skits and/or parody of a certain scene from a movie, either in solo or groups. some students bring guitars at school to sing with friends during breaks too.

Bugoy Drilon covered One Day and gives it a Bob Marley taste/vibes to it that the male(man at the Restaurant )was probably inspired to do as well.

Every Filipino sings everywhere, in the streets, in bar, in the mall, in the grocery store, even in typhoons, the passion of Filipino about singing is high, its culture to us. .
