Bates Method 101: Seeing Without Sunglasses

Показать описание
In this video, Certified Bates Method Teacher, Nathan Oxenfeld explains the importance of gradually adapting to the natural light of the sun with the help of the Bates Method practice called "sunning". No glasses or contacts should be worn when sunning, and the eyes should remain closed and the head in motion during sunning.
It is important to follow the 4 rules of sunning:
1) Always let your comfort be your guide
2) Always palm your eyes as long as you sun
3) Take short doses of sunning
4) Never stare at the sun with eyes open
While you are in the process of decreasing light sensitivity, you may still need to use sunglasses or hats. Preferably, wear a hat so that you can get the shade without blocking the indirect light. If sunglasses are worn, consider using the lightest tint possible and avoid very darkly tinted sunglasses.
Yellow-tinted sunglasses reduce glare without decreasing brightness, which can help keep the pupils constricted.
Pinhole glasses can sometimes be used for the purpose of sunglasses, but should not be overused, and not worn during movement-based activities.
Thank you and have a relaxing summer!
