Homo Deus & Brave New World - Double Book Review

After reviewing "Sapiens" by Yuval Noah Harari, I immediately read his other book - "Homo Deus". Homo Deus means human god. This is what technology is making into a reality with the power of bio engineering, genetics and robotics. The book uncannily echoes some of the "prophecies" done by an earlier sci-fi novel by Aldous Huxley "Brave New World"

What would happen with humans when machines know us better than we know ourselves?

How do you feel about the predictions in Homo Deus? Are you excited about the tomorrow of humanity?

I just finished Home Deus, and during the last part of it, I realized that this is what Huxley was talking about in Brave New World. Googling, I found the BNW is Harari's favorite book. Homo Deus is 5 years old now, and you can see thtat Harari tends to over estimate the accomplishments of technology (for example, he stands in awe of Microsoft's Cortana, then in its infancy, which most people, today, disable because it is so helpful.) Harari is incredibly smart and misses nothing, but his main talent is explaining difficult concepts in an interesting and easy to understand way, and in teasing connections between different areas of thought. If you read a lot and think a lot about our "brave new world, " you won't find anything particularly new in Homo Deus, but it will remind you what is important and be an extremely enjoyable read (or, in my case, listen).

If you liked those books, you might like Jay Dyer's book lectures / book list- Jay's Analysis. He's done one on Jacque Atalli's "A Brief History of the Future", nother twist to Homo Deus, and "A Brave New World", etc. - Globalist books.
