NOTE: There seems to be a Packet Tracer bug where the STP role and status of ports keeps changing. I didn't notice this when I made the video, but downloaded the file again and confirmed it. I think the hub between SW1 and SW3 is probably causing problems for Packet Tracer. Sorry about that! The solution in this video is correct, however.

You are a legend! I been studying cyber security degree for 2 years now and we covered networking in two different modules.. its a bit late but i wanted to do the CCNA to get a networking-related certification. This course has explained better than my professors did and i paid money to study from them... Keep up the amazing work and good luck to anyone doing this course.

This is a heads up for anyone trying to obtain their CCNA. I am on day 24 of Jeremy's videos. I am also taking an Intro Cisco class. I had my final lab yesterday and I did bad. I made the mistake of not practicing the labs Jeremy and my school offers. Please, take his labs over and over. I forgot the basics of configuration because I became too comfortable. I forgot how to subnet as well. So please make sure you do the labs here, or elsewhere. But, keep practicing until it becomes second nature. Luckily for me, I have two more classes until I am ready for my CCNA. Fingers crossed the rest of my grades can keep my grade high enough to pass this class.

Hi Jeremy, thanks for your video, it's a good explanation as always!
But why do SW3 ports (Fa0/1, Fa0/24, Gi0/1) have Desg role and BLK status? I also have tried to check it in lab by myself. I am observing that ports role and status are being changed continuously. I suppose it's some PT bug.

Why cost for that RSTP topology is calculated like STP? ex SW3 G0/1 cost is 4, instead of 20k

in Day 20 @24:10 you mentioned that the switch port connected to the Root Bridge's designated port must always be the ROOT port. I'm getting confused now when I redo these labs

braybraycooldude

One question how comes sw2 has a lower root cost on its f0/2 to be designated port ?

How comes these labs use the 100, 19, 4, and 2 interface costs instead of the -> 20 port costs mentioned in your lecture?

@Jeremy's IT Lab Why do we have to add giagbit ethernet cost and fast ethernet cost to have a total root cost of 23

rogersjolly

If we enable bpdu guard on the interface. This is valid in rstp

Say you configure an interface using the interface range option, but there are no devices connected to that interface (18:00). Will the configurations still be present once something is connected to that interface?

why dosent SW3 choose g0/1 as its root port
