Today for Mousetrap Monday, we're gonna be looking at this new rodent trap. It's called the Weasel; I really like it, it has a slim design and it's capable of catching multiple mice in one night. Let's setup the motion cameras and see this "Weasel" rodent trap in action.

You need a bear to catch & eat the weasel. Then you can build that bear trap full size....

If you don't have other animals to protect from weasels, they are handy to have around. I lived in a log house on a forested lot, and there were lots of mice trying to come in, especially in the cold weather. Once a local weasel showed up and discovered the abundant supply of mice, he made the property part of his rounds. No more mouse problem.

I made one very similar when I was 13 out of lego blocks. I actually trapped the mouse, but it chewed it's way out of the floor because I had used a thinner mat that the lego blocks had come with for a base. Brought back a fond memory of improvisation.

Hey Shawn -- I just thought of another revenue stream for you. You should go to the local town, rent an abandoned store front, and open up a mouse trap museum. Not only could you have interactive displays with your videos, but shelves of the mousetraps that you are collecting, and of course a merchandise gift shop full of mouse stuff. It would be a real tourist "trap".

I'd rather improve the coop so that the weasel can't enter the chick area rather than disposing of the weasel! The weasel might eat several mice a day and if it breeds, you have a natural, effective and costless way of getting rid of many mice.

Edit: I have chickens and had chicks myself and I'm aware that improving the whole coop is costly and impractical. Improving just a secluded area for the chicks however might be a viable option for you, depending on how many chicks you raise.
