How to check if your N52/N54 vanos solenoid is bad?

The part number for this is 11367585425, according to BMW it will work on cars with N52 and N54 engines. Just remember that you need two of these.

Spraying engine degreaser and shaking them until they loosen up frees the grime and makes them work again. For how long I'm not sure yet, but its a life saver for now as I thought I put my engine back together wrong after a head gasket replacement, thought I had the timing off, so this trick saved me from opening up the X3 again. Runs like new now, before it wouldn't stay running more than 5 seconds without sputtering and stalling.

You don't have to check, just assume it's bad, you will be 90% right.

Will somebody please show the check valves that go behind the solenoids from the side they will cause Vennos codes also, I cannot find a video to show where to remove them

This isn't exactly correct. Solenoids often require some cleaning to free the piston assembly. To test the solenoid though you need to apply power and test the actuator.

Can you test it with a battery and some wires you hook up the wires to the solenoid you press it to the positive or negative parts of a AA battery or 12 V battery whatever and you will hear clicking noises if it’s working

Not tru my friend, put your brand new selenoid and drive like 100-1000km and chec if it do the same noise
