Tip for stopping joycon drift: clean your joycons, put on plastic covers to prevent it from collecting dust, wear gloves while using them, hell don’t even use them at all, hell don’t even BUY them

One thing that i can recommend (from experience) is using a straw and blow lightly under the silicon part of the joy-con, it is a temporary fix but it gets you covered for at least 2 hours

A great fix for the 3 people who's issue was on the software side. Can't patch hardware

All hopes and dreams till your drift is so severe you can’t even go to the right settings

Yeah right, if joycon drift was easily fixed with a system update Nintendo wouldn't be facing multiple lawsuits and millions of people wouldn't still have that issue to this day

Everyone wishes it was that easy, bro.

None of those will fix drift as it is a hardware issue.

You will need to ether replace your sticks or take apart the stick module and clean the gunk off of the resistive traces

how to fix joycon drift: get third party joy cons without drift and that don’t suck

I feel this should be considered misinformation at this point but it is technically not as while drift can be caused on the software side of things, most cases of joycon drift is on the hardware side. Clickbait seems more accurate. Calibration only really seems to reset the center point of the stick and that's about it. It does not add a deadzone and doesn't circumvent the physical problems that are generally causing it (the drift). For those unaware these problems are usually caused by particles getting in the path of the sliders on the inside of the stick module, causing false readings, or the bottom casing of the module pulling away from the sliding mechanism which makes contact with the graphite pads that make the analog stick work, which leads to inaccurate readings of stick placement.

Some actual fixes to joycon drift tend to be:
1. Sending them in to Nintendo for repairs
2. Cleaning the stick
3. Doing the cardboard/paper trick (video made by "Vk's channel" about this fix: )
4. Replacing the stick with a new one (sometimes new sticks have the center point not being read as in the center, this is where the calibration is actually useful and can set the center point to the actual center)
5a. Not really a fix but you can just buy a new pair, or single joycon
5b. Although if you're prepared to waste $80 on a new pair, you might as well look into some joycon alternatives that may suit you more than the standard joycon, while also possibly costing less.

One thing that kinda helps is getting something small to sway under the flaps the analog has under it. I messed with calibrating a few times and it worked but only for a little while before it went back to drifting. You could also just try replacing the analog. It may be a small project but it’s cheaper and they have a couple of optional colors as a plus
