To be fair, we can provide some reasoning to him getting possessed:
He is the most powerful non-void-spawn character, and thus do to him also looking very strong he is often the first one to be chosen as a good possession candidate. He also owns Dreamland (or at least all the Waddle Dees in Dreamland), so if world domination is a goal, they can posses him and already own a first world country. His castle is suggested to be in the center of Dreamland, so invaders will typically arrive near the castle, and any artifacts that will lead them to him will typically be taken in by Dedede’s soldiers or himself. And to top it off, he also is the owner of the best song in the Kirby franchise (Roar of Dedede).
