A clean Carfax is ONLY the starting point to even consider inspecting it!

The $150 I spent on 2 inspections when I purchased my last private party car got me the car for $5k instead of $10k because of the needed work they found!! That’s a damn decent ROI man!!

My house inspector ripped me off. End up hiring carpenters masons plumbers and electricians to inspect it. Home inspectors can go to hell

I been in quite a few wrecks. Most were never reported. We dealt with it from owner to owner.

I was board one day so I looked up my old 93 jeep and it said that it was totaled in an roll over accident while I owned the thing. I think that is something that I would remember

Carfax IMO is 50/50, it's very helpful when purchasing a car but it's not 100% accurate. But then again what is 🤷🏽‍♂️

My old ute had a decent crash. Had to replace a lot of the front and I still have it. There's no paperwork for repairs because I repaired it.

true Scotty! Also rental companies insure their own cars so they never admit a wreck

Scotty is 100% spot-on! I've seen many cars that had a "clean" CarFax, but had all sorts of other problems. It's a good starting point, but definitely not a substitute for a proper per-purchase inspection.

Thank you for saying it Scotty. I think the only thing it is good for is so the seller can say the oil got changed at a dealers service center.

Back in 04' i ran into the rear end of a puckup truck, doing a good number to my car. After it got towed and appraised. I complained and told them i had a mechanic to fix it after they started working on it. They took care of the deductible, and the car never showed an accident on car fax. Even though it was near totalled.

I bought a "safety checked" car from a name brand dealership; car is still fine after 5 years but looking the missing body clips/loose bolts and other items something happened to this car in the year gap before purchased. Carfax was blank on time period

Always have a trusted mechanic inspect a used car before you buy it

That’s why it’s best if you can afford it pay for the body repairs out of pocket and don’t file a claim. Filing a claim drops the resale value of a car after a accident that was fixed by a insurance co. Cuz it’s always reported.
Now if it’s totaled and you know it’s totaled then yea go file a claim get your $$ for another car
Cuz if a accident is that bad and maybe repairable it most likely won’t run/drive/feel the same again anyways so isn’t worth it

I love the dealership Carfax scam where your trad in car’s value is lowered because of a Carfax report that “suddenly” showed up while you were having your trade in valued by the dealer.

They dont claim to have all the info ppl get into fender benders and crashes all the time and hide it carfax is amazing for purchasing a vehicle because it does give alot of info about the car that you wouldnt have otherwise known such as previous repairs etc
