This was supposed to be about budget film making. Things got crazy and I ended up reviewing this amazing lens.

Bought this lens not to long ago for half of what it is now. It’s a banger for sure and it a hell of a wide angle lens at 11mm mark. Until then I thought I knew a wide angle at 18mm, but this blew me away. Best purchase to date.

Just picked up the new ATX version of the Tokina 11-16 to keep my Sigma 18-35 company, on my pocket 4k with the metabones 0.71 for BMD. Picking it up Monday!!

There is a newer refresh version of Tokina 11-16 called "atx-i 11-16mm F2.8 CF", specs look exactly the same, Im wondering whether there is any real world difference in them

I use only three lenses for my corporate videos -- Tokina 11-16 mm f2.8; Nikor 35 mm f1.8 and Olympus 45 mm f 1.8. I use D3300 and G85. Never felt the need for any other lens. Now of course, I shoot real estate too, but even for real estate there is no need for another lens. And I shot a few wedding videos for friends with the same combination of lenses and cameras. It was all perfect.

It’s a beautiful high quality lens. Just bought the new version to go with my metabones ultra and GH5. Shooting is now a pleasure.

I have this same tokina using it with Panasonic g9 and viltrox adapter. I get amazing results.

Like yourself, I have been seeking the perfect companion for my 18-35mm 1.8. I have the Canon 10-18mm. The canon is a very good lens. Very sharp, super light, and now chromatic aberration issues to speak of. And it also has image stabilization which is a nice bonus. I purchased the Tokina the other day and did some comparative testing with my Canon 10-18, however, my first impressions are that the benefits of the Canon outweigh the extra couple of f/stops on the Tokina, particularly for video work. The Tokina's chromatic aberration is quite strong at 2.8 and only really goes away at 3.5, therefore there is only a saving of 1/stop. I am curious about the Sigma 8-16mm super wide angle, this lens looks quite impressive. The predicted tradeoffs compared to the Canon are going to be, that it is not possible to mount an ND filter due to the protruding lens, and its going to be heavier.

We use Sigma 50-150 MM F2.8 constant aperture is our companion for our film work. This lens is a beast and we use it only on sticks. The other lenses are Tokino 11-16MM F2.8, Canon 16-35 F4 (With SB, the effective aperture is 2.8 with zero distortion)

Perhaps you should do another review on the newer Tokina 11-16mm ATX-I CF? it released in 2019.

Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 CF the new one, is anyone facing problem with the lens? Like color aberration issues? Many have posted such complaint with the new CF one.
The old DX didn't had any issue other than the minimal focusing noise.

What's your experience with new one?

Thanks for the video. I tried filming outside in bright sunlight but could not see the screen of my BMPCC 6K well enough to focus. How did you manage? Will you be doing a video with the Sigma 18-35 mm lens for us to see? I am interested in your views of this lens before I buy one.

I got this lens but it's a bit blurry. I'm thinking I should have got the Laowa 7.5mm. Thoughts?

Excellent Video! Do you have problems with the Tokina Lens & chromematic abbreviation? Also do you shoot with Auto Focus?

Great video! I recently got this lens but am having a tough time with chromatic aberration when shooting video. Did you have any similar issues?

I wonder, why you, and many others go with Tokina 11-16mm instead of 11-20mm? Are there any downsides of 11-20 aside from bigger price?
