I still remember when I first heard of Wi-Fi at a seminar at Portland State University back in the year 2000 :)

One important thing to point out is that in order to take advantage of wifi6 both ends of the link have to be compatible. This means if you aren't planning on upgrading that laptop or phone you won't be able to take advantage of a new wifi6 router/access point. That being said most if not all new routers/access points are backwards compatable so if you are a person who budgets your electronics spending, buying a new router/access point ahead of time will still provide wifi access to your current devices, but you won't benefit from wifi6 enhancements until you buy a new wifi6 compatible endpoint.

So in short, wifi 6 is really just for businesses that see many users or huge homes with many occupants who are heavy users. For 95% of consumers wifi 5 will be enough.
