The Good: Private Equity helped many companies in unique ways during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Bad: Many Private Equity-controlled companies were  particularly hurt during the crisis due to the high debt put on them by PE, and many well-known UK companies went bankrupt as a result.

The Ugly: Many highly indebted PE-controlled companies were rescued by the tax-payer, leading to the feeling that this was again a case of capitalism for the rich and communism for the poor.

Vindi Banga, senior partner at the private equity fund Clayton Dubilier & Rice, and Ludovic Phalippou, Professor of Financial Economics, will discuss these differing views and separate the truth from the fiction.
