Thanks! I didn't do the additional voices (yet), but used 11 for the AI narration, Udio for the soundtrack, pixabay for the sounds, capcut to create the video, canva for the cover. Chatgpt for script polish. I've uploaded to YT as well (Natural Forces - The Sigil of Amara) and also uploaded to spotify as a podcast. I did this in one day.🤯

The demo is amazing, and I want it to work. But it’s just not there yet. NONE of these voices sounds like a real human. I can ALWAYS tell - and so can 90% of the people I have tested these tools with. And I have worked REALLY hard to make 11Labs do its best work. But whenever I play it for anyone else, I get an immediate “Oh, that’s AI.” These responses are not from AI “nerds” like you or me - they ARE from people who consume lots of audiobooks. My opinion is that for now, the best option is either: read the book yourself (especially if it’s nonfiction) or hire a pro to do it. It’s not as expensive as you might think … and even if you use 11Labs and tweak it to make it the BEST it could be, 11Labs will be MORE expensive than you think. Keep in mind, I love AI for how it can help us write more, better, faster, etc. I’m not a naysayer against AI - but in this specific case, I don’t think AI is the best choice.

I think your voice is fun because we know you and trust your videos. The Alex voice is high quality and sounds professional, but with your viewership you have a ready audience who love your videos and woud listen to it even with the added um's. :)

Thanks for the video. I love that it was relatively easy to have the character voices added. I have quite a few male and female characters in my books, so I might fool around with that. Alex is a little too nasal, I like a deeper tone, but that's just me. Yes, it sounds like you - I sped you up to 1.5 when just listening to you during your tutorial (except when Alex or you spoke in the book) because you do pause a lot while speaking and I find it becomes a bit laborious to listen to after a while. It would have been nice to hear your pro voice version as well, just for comparison. If it sounds good, you could adjust the settings to speed your voice up a bit without as many pauses.

I wasn't paying close attention to the video when you had it start talking in your voice. I had no idea it wasn't you talking until I looked back over. Hopefully there is a setting to remove the voice "imperfections" like the "ums". I like your voice.

Very cool! I really like the Alex voice, but the voice that's emulating YOU sounds very realistic and true to your personality. Interesting that it needs half an hour of you speaking to nail down your tone and style. Also, wondering if you've looked into getting your audio and video synced up better. There's still just a tiny delay. I know some video producers use a clap at the beginning (which is later deleted) to sync audio and video files. Maybe that would help in your case? Maybe others can chime in on fixing a techy issue like this. Otherwise I absolutely love your content! Your thorough videos have really pushed me into taking the leap into seriously incorporating AI in my writing. Thanks!

I think the Alex voice is better for the book, though I do think that its cool when you get an authors voice reading. Maybe with a bit more tweaking of the sound it would work. At first it just barely sounded like you, but then when it was bumped to 20% and the added pauses, ums and a couple words with added breathy sounds...lol it was you. It was missing personality before and was less expressive.

I'd have to imagine this winds up being very costly in time reviewing and credits since you cannot demo/preview before committing to having your credits chewed up.

Sounds good. The pauses are too long, but I could automate a maximum pause length in Reaper with a bit of scripting. There may already be a tool to do it. I can't help picking a voice as I listen to so much at x1.5 to x2 speed, everything else drags.
