Food Scientist (MSc.), Asli Elif Tanugur who has been working as an R&D and quality director at one of the leading companies of the honey products industry was struggling with a major problem. She had a 5-year-old son who occasionally developed fever condition. For that, doctors prescribed antibiotics each time this happened, causing him developing allergies for antibiotics. She desperately knocked the door of many doctors to find a solution to this problem. A physician she found after a long search told her that the only cure is to improve his immune system. So she started looking for natural ways of improving his immune system. And she came across propolis and royal jelly in numerous literatures she scanned. She thought this was her biggest hope in life. While she was so happy with the idea that her son would regain his health, she had no time to waste before she accessed propolis.

Honey is the most well known and most consumed bee product. And she had been in the honey industry for many years. So she instantly contacted some honey producers she had already known and she asked them to produce propolis.

They used to throw propolis away. Because propolis is not edible in its raw form and it has to go through extraction for human consumption. She built up the first plant for extraction of propolis in Anatolia and won the first award for innovation from Research Institution by the extraction process that she developed for propolis. Flavonoid and antioxidant content of propolis extract she developed is at least 3 times higher than any other competitor's brand in the market.
