How does a foreigner acquire Ugandan citizenship?

The following persons shall, upon application, be registered as citizens of Uganda— (a) every person married to a Ugandan citizen, upon proof of a legal and subsisting marriage of five years or more; (b) every person who has legally and voluntarily migrated to and has been living in Uganda for at least twenty years.

Correction: You can re-apply for dual citizenship even if you denounced your Ugandan status at the respective embassy. You will have to prove that you can speak at least one local language as well as present proof of ancestral roots. Please support the channel by subscribing. 🔔

I don't remember the office I went to in Uganda but I wanted to apply for nationalisation. I did an interview, they asked about my parents history etc as I was born in Uganda, thou don't have a passport as my mum misplaced it. I grew without it. I passed my interview and I was asked to pay 15M. I was m born in Uganda but they couldn't check records to retrieve my birth certificate

They should make it so you can buy citizenship, or at least permanent residency. There are a few countries that do that.
