Lucy's Corsetry (bishonenrancher) contains the largest and most comprehensive collection of free corset related videos on the internet. Topics include corset making/ alteration, corset reviews, fashion history, lifestyle and health concerns.
(Also the occasional science, beauty and long-hair videos on the side, just for kicks!)

I uploaded my first video in October 2010 - my aim is to speak candidly about corsetry and show that it is a beautiful and helpful garment, not a taboo. Education is a big passion of mine. Corsets aren't for everyone, but I believe everyone should have easy access to information if they choose to learn more. :)

Hi Lucy! If I knew how to upload a picture for you I would. I have a corset I made a few months ago with both the gold busk and the flexible lacing bones. I use the lacing bones to measure only - I don't leave them in the corset. I can use then to get a nice even spread from top to middle, and then put the middle two almost touching since they are 00, and then a nice even spread middle to bottom. I found out early on they are almost impossible to close even with a longer shank if you have two layers of lightweight fabric - never mind a fashion layer & a heavyweight strength layer, heaven forbid you forget to leave the waist tape off the grommet area or are working with a larger person like myself where you might want that extra support. Much easier to double flat bone either side of the grommets, imho. Makes for an easier straight line of grommets, too. That said, there are companies out there that do long shank grommets by the gross at pretty good rates if you want to go that route. If you do use the lacing boning in the corset, I recommend using a press rather than a hammer because the boning will try to bend or break under the repeated blows. The busk I received had the gold plating worn off from age and use when I got it. I called their office and let them know right away and they immediately offered multiple options to fix the problem. Unfortunately the options didn't work, but they obviously have improved their product since my call and I'm very glad to see that in your video. I have used their fusion boning in medical corsets before, never as a lacing bone, so I can testify to its strength. Don't try to bend it! It's very durable and thick! This company has an excellent selection of Dupioni silk, btw. I love the service from this company, although their shipping prices even inside the US are way high. When I order from them, I always order to the maximum of the price before it goes up to the next rung on the shipping ladder. Here's hoping this helps someone!!

+Tammy Bergen Youtube won't let me reply to your comment! But thank you so much for your detailed information - it's good to know that the quality of their materials have only improved over time and that they have great customer service. :) I don't see myself switching to lacing bones exclusively, but I'll see where offers some long shank grommets that would fit these. Using them as a guide for grommet placement is a fantastic idea though!!

I read that article as well. it started me to thinking about other Keratin based thins that I course for boning. I have the beginnings of an idea, and I hope you'll be willing to look at it when I get far enough to share. It would involve using a waste produced in farming and some chemistry.

Oh my gosh! At 02:16, I use plastic plumbers tape from Home Depot for lace strips for mock-ups. it works temporary and is light weight if you have to mail it.  It is one inch wide and three dollars for 15 feet. Great Video.

These are awesome! Please...please make a video of how you sew or work with and finish the mesh fabric. I'm wondering how heat from the iron would affect the shape/size/texture of the mesh. Are they washable? Would be lovely to use them in place of silk organza for interlining (or shaping) sheer/silk garments

So, I have this idea that I might never get around to for a faun queen costume, but anyways, in preparation for it, I went and bought myself a soldering iron, in order to get a more organic look to the edges of the fabric. I used it on a couple of small projects, and it works wonderfully - it cuts and seals the edges of synthetic fabric at the same time. I imagine it would work well for the mesh fabric =) And the best part is that it was pretty cheap ;) I had a 50% off coupon from Michael's and it wound up only costing me $20 with tax.

Yay, corset making materials! I used to love your case studies and corset making videos, they were fun to watch and very informative. (...I also enjoy your current videos!) A few years back, bridgesonthebody hosted a sew-along that I joined and it was such good fun even though I can't sew and have dyscalculy and thus messed up with allll the numbers. You don't happen to know about other sew-alongs...? Anyway, I'd love to see wat you will make with that mesh and THE GOLD BUSK OH MY FSM ALL THE SHINES. Have you made any corsets the last few years that have not made it to youtube? You sound as if you haven't sewed in ages. Cuz we here on youtube are eating all your time. Sorry for that...

Do you think a small DIY "Hot wire cutter" table would work for cutting the 'plastic' mesh fabrics?

How did you get into corset-making? It's something I'd be interested in, but they don't exactly have any classes about corset making where I'm from! Thanks!

Omg I was watching the news the other day and they ran a story about waist training and the "dangers" and one of your videos was running in the background of it.

New toys! Fun! Early merry xmas to you!

I admit that I've been seriously thinking of taking a corset making class, but as my disabilities keep me from traveling or even driving, it would need to be online. Any reputable online courses you would recommend for a beginner? I am sewing knowledgeable, just not in corsetry. But I started thinking since I really must wear one daily, that maybe learning to make my own would make the most sense. It's not like I don't have time. Any thoughts on this topic? I'd appreciate anyone's knowledge in this are if you have it. So, comment readers, please give me your inside wisdom as well!

I'm in the process of waiting for sketches of my retrofolie corset. I know some others were asking if us winners sent you photos if you'd post them on your site for all to see? They seemed interested in what we would design. And I know I'm fine with you sharing any pics I will send. I'm beyond excited to show you what she helped me choose, and you've given me!

Hey question whats the difference between a short and a long torso corset? Which one benefits more for altering the ribs? Thank so much! ☺️❤️

Have you ever bough supplies from item4ever? I see them on Amazon and they have the length busk I need but I'm concerned that it's so cheap.
