THE VALENTINOS - SWEETER THAN THE DAY BEFORE (CHESS)

The Valentinos also known as The Womack Brothers included future solo star Bobby Womack along with brothers Cecil, Harry, Friendly and Curtis.

The group began recording in the late 50's in Cleveland and were discovered by Sam Cooke who took him under his wing and signed them to his SAR label. After Cooke died tragically, the group were signed to Chess records.

The Valentinos - "Let's Get Together"/"Sweeter Than the Day Before" recorded Oct 1966 on the CHESS label no.1977.
Mentioned in Billboard Magazine Oct 1966 R & B Spotlights -Predicted to reach the R&B SINGLES CHART.

By late 1965 Soul Legend Bobby Womack was working solo "A Lonesome Man"/"I Found a True Love" with Chess subsidiary label Checker and then a later release on Keymen Records.
Consequently, Curtis Womack took control of "Sweeter" supplying his gritty vocals to this storming rare soul dancer. Cecil Womack and soon to be wife Mary Wells co-wrote the track.
