Hike to Pachnes Lefka Ori on Crete 2.453 m

During our trip to Crete, we decided to hike up into the white mountains also called Lefka Ori. The only desert in Europe. As we didn't have enough time, we skipped the first part of the hike with the help of a car. We started early in the morning as the weather wasn't that stable, and we only had this day to hike up. Driving up from sea level at night and experiencing the sunrise from within the car was the first highlight of a series to come.
From the drop-off point on, a couple of hundred meters of height and 1h 45 min we reached the peak of mount Pachnes at 2.453 m. The view from here is absolutely stunning. This trip is an absolute recommendation. The combination of a moon-like surrounding with the ocean next to it is something you won't get somewhere else. Back in Anopoli we had lunch at the restaurant "Anopoli Taverna" one of the best restaurants we have eaten on Crete.

Man that's a long and beautiful drive up the mountain, I had to turn around since it turned into a dirt road. I'm jealous.
