I go to Russian at school, started it before the war and now I'm not allowed to change, my teacher is the amazing type that supports everyone and will stop lessons to chat with students, but she's also Russian. The other day, she came with not a rainbow bag but a pride one, and when we asked about it she said she wanted an LGBT bag but would probably get in trouble if her family or anyone saw her with it. Bless her. (The weeks after the war started she always seemed to have been crying, I bet it was hard for her.)

As a Russian LGBT person, support is really low here, especially in smaller towns. My cousin recently got sent to conversion therapy when she came out. I really hope things get better eventually but at this point I'm losing hope.

Just to give people some idea what's going on right now, there was a case where gay sex worker had been arrested, he was fined for prostitution for around 20$ and for lgbt propaganda for around 1300$.. (average salary in Russia is around 700$ per month)

That's heartbreaking; everything is already so shit with Russia but this is just an added degree of awful, my heart goes out to the LGBTQ members in Russia, I hope they're safe and that things work out and/or they can leave <3

As a gay person who lives in Russia, every day I feel like I get less and less rights here. Also the whole "propaganda of sex change" Is making me question if I could transition here at all, the only thing that's saving me and my partner right now is the fact that I look fem and people think we are a straight couple.
Once I was almost pushed in front of a train because of a trans pin I had, walking to my college I heard slurs thrown at me time and time again and I am terrified of what's coming next.

Thank you SO MUCH for bringing light to this issue. I'm Russian, I'm a trans man and I have been dating the love of my life for three years now. This is honestly terrifying. Knowing that me, my friends or my partner can be in danger for simply even *hinting* they're queer on social media sends me into spiralling paranoia. All I want is to live a happy life with my partner, and now I'm scared for our future, scared that something bad can happen, scared that we won't ever be able to leave this country. It shatters my heart to think about everything that's happening. We just want to be happy. It doesn't harm anybody. Why should we be living in constant fear for ourselves? It's just not fair.
Sending my prayers to all the lgbtq+ folks out here. Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones. They won't erase us.
