Maria Vidal ~ Body Rock 1984 Disco Purrfection Version
Показать описание
Maria Elena Vidal born August 1, 1960. The where is a mystery as there is no official bio for Ms Vidal anywhere. What is known is that she loved to sing and act. She was a founding member of the NYC band Rouge which got renamed Desmond Child & Rouge that had two successful LP's and the pop hit "Our Love Is Insane" and contributed "Last Of An Ancient Breed" to "The Warriors" soundtrack in 1979. Paul Schaffer played keyboards for the band and hired Vidal to sing on a comedy album by Gilda Radner that became a Broadway show "Gilda Radner - Live From New York". Rouge was hired as the band and as actors in the show. After the band split up, Vidal got to work with John "Jellybean" Benitez, a prominent DJ/Producer on her first solo LP. The next thing was a call from Phil Ramone who was working on the soundtrack for a film called "Body Rock" starring Lorenzo Lamas in 1984. He brought her the song and she agreed to record it and the result was #8 disco/dance hit, spending nine weeks on the survey. It peaked at #48 on the Hot100. The song is an anthem and sounding as big as any song from the 80's. You may recognize the S Levay production credit, his name is Sylvester Levay and he wrote and produced Silver Convention's runaway hit "Fly Robin Fly" and disco smash Penny McLean's "Lady Bump". I'm sure his touches here for Maria hepled to make this song an anthem. Her recording career fizzled away after that, but she made it up by getting acting roles and then Jimmy Iovine grabbed her for A&M records, but she only found success in South America. She contributed backing vocals for Paul Stanley, Stevie Nicks, The Smithereens, Belinda Carlisle, Alice Cooper, Celine Dion, Bette Midler, Cher, Cat Stevens and Lana del Rey. I bet you did not know that!
