Recent preclinical research suggests that focused ultrasound (FUS) may have the potential to treat Alzheimer's disease (AD) by helping to open the blood-brain barrier and reduce the number of plaques. Further collaborative research is necessary to assess the viability of FUS for treating Alzheimer’s, expediting the translation of this promising early research into clinical utility. Dr. Steven DeKosky, Professor of Neurology Emeritus, University of Virginia School of Medicine and Chair of the Foundation’s AD Steering Committee, shares an overview of the pathology of the disease, current methods of treatment, and discussion of the potential of focused ultrasound as a new option.

This webinar was recorded on April 28, 2015.
