How to Change the Primary Monitor on Windows 10.

All versions of the Windows Operating System that are currently supported by Microsoft have dual monitor and even multiple monitor support. This means that you can have more than one monitor not only connected to your computer but also display whatever you want it to display in order to increase productivity and improve ease of use. Windows 10, the latest and greatest in a long line of Windows Operating Systems, also has multiple monitor support. In fact, Windows 10 is rather good at handling more than one monitor. Multiple monitor support is a godsend for power users as most power users out there have more than one monitors connected to their computers.

When you connect more than just one monitor to a computer running on the Windows Operating System, Windows makes one of the monitors the primary monitor (in almost all cases, this is the monitor that was connected to the computer first) and the rest of the monitors the secondary, tertiary and so on monitors. The primary monitor is the default monitor Windows displays everything on, which is why being able to determine which monitor connected to your computer you want to be the primary monitor is immensely important. Thankfully, Windows 10 not only allows users with multiple monitors to choose their primary monitor at any given time but the process used to do so is also pretty simple.

In Display - scroll down to Pick the picture with the number of monitor you want to be the primary display. Then select it. Then scroll down same screen to multiple displays select the check box for make this my main display.

For those still wondering, select your 2nd monitor (the one you want as your main) and scroll down to the bottom under the "Multiple Displays" section. There you will find a box (unchecked if not already your main display) that reads "Make this my main display." Simply check the box and you're good to go.

LISTEN: DO NOT "DRAG" SHIT. Dragging will illistrate which way you want to swing your mouse to access the other screen (I.e. left or right). Instead you need to SELECT one of those two screen illustrations and then scroll down to a check box that says "Make this my main display" (Screen '1') - Screen 2 will then be to the right of screen 1 by default.

after i identify monitor 1 and 2 and drag them to were i want them it still show monitor 1 in the wrong place

it won't let me make my 2nd monitor my default one, whenever i shut down the pc and log back in it goes back to extend these displays every single time and its so annoying...

If someone want to change the display 2 to display 1, you can simply change the order of your display cable on your graphic card

Can anybody help me? When i use my main monitor its primary but when i turn on my second monitor it becomes the primary insttead of the second!!!

I chose Show Only One by mistake instead of Extended and now i can't see any choices to change it back. HELP!! Surface with dock and HP 2nd monitor.
