Schiff is the GOAT
He always plays music like he understands it and enjoys the way it sounds. Most of the other guys play everything, especially Bach like it’s a finger exercise or a race.

I like Richter's Bach for its depth, Gould's for the singing voices, and Schiff's for the Baroquesque lightness! I like all three equally!

I didn't hear Bach, I heard Glenn Gould. I never heard Bach but I would imagine he and I would prefer Andras's version!

Schiff is a true musician. Every note in his playing is crystal clear. Gould was an exhibitionist. He thought that music is like a sprint. This is the real difference between them.

Poor Gould is rolling over in his grave. One of his staunchly consistent philosophies was anti competitiveness. It has no place in art. Many interpretations can be valid.

I appreciate the unique interpretation that Gould gives to Bach pieces, but when it comes into the ultimate Bach performing the man is Sir Andràs Schiff

As many have already said, Schiff’s Bach is “pretty, ” almost “Mozartian.” Gould, Love’m or Hate’m, is serious music-making: he’s in a completely different league. Obvious, even from these little snippets.

Both are great but Gould has something special for me. Not in all cases, sometimes Schiff wins, but for this piece, especially movement 2 and 3, its got to be Gould
