My mother in law tried to shame me for breast feeding in a restaurant at our table. I was fully covered. Nothing was visible, not even my child. She told me to go to the bathroom to do that. I asked her if she likes to eat where she shits too. That shut her right up.

That's not a lactation station that's a health hazard

“No, it’s not a lactation station. It’s a chair for the other woman they inevitably will bring with them to chat with to sit in.”

Many companies call it a “Mothers’ Room“. It’s about an 8’ x 10’ room with a nice chair, a changing table, and a sink.

As a female car painter- it gets even worse cause some companies don’t even offer a changing room and toilet specifically for female employees..

When I went back to work after having my daughter I worked at a bar/restaurant...all the other servers would cover for me when I went into the bathroom to pump because they all said I would get fired if the owner found out I was doing something on the clock other than waiting my tables. We were an all female staff and everyone of them had my back to ensure I kept my job and could continue to nurse my child!

My boss tried to do this to me and I flat asked her if she would eat her lunch in the bathroom. Needless to say she did not like that question. This pisses me off because so many women had to do this in the bathroom.

What is failed to be mentioned here, a lactation station doesn't have to be permanent. The employer can bring in a box trailer with a manual pump sink and electrical outlets and chair and be in compliance. They can also just use extra high cubicle walls with a lockable door in a break room toss in a chair and it's in compliance.

I really feel for mommas who have to pump at work 💔 I am a stay at home momma of 2 so I don’t have to experience this, but my heart breaks for those who do! Amazing lengths moms will go to give their babies the best!

I was told to pump on the bathroom and had fifteen minutes and people would mess with my breast milk in the refrigerator.
Then I asked to pump in the dressing room and had the asset protection(AP) staff literally walking around the dressing room the ENTIRE time and follow me around afterwards and all I wanted to do was pump for my baby.
I ended up giving up street 4 months. It was too stressful and harassing. Thank you Walmart for being jerks

I cannot imagine doing this to someone. One of my coworkers was breastfeeding, she had a private office with a comfortable couch, a sign on the door to not disturb her, her own phone if she needed to call one of us for help, and direct access to the kitchen and a bathroom just outside the door. Like??? It's not that hard to treat people properly.

My ex employer tried to tell me I could pump in the restroom, but I couldn't lock the door because clients had to also use it. So potentially I'd be sitting on the toilet pumping and someone would be relieving themself next door. Quit.

When I was pregnant with my first, my boss would get mad at me and write me up for having to use the bathroom "more than a normal amount" and refused to find me coverage for my register when I needed to go. I eneded up using adult diapers cuz I wouldn't be able to hold it. And then after my son was born. I wasn't aloud to pump at work cuz it made the men uncomfortable. According to him. Even though I asked and all the men said that wasn't true. I ended up pumping in the bathroom in secret., but that was hard as he didn't like me taking bathroom. Breaks. After he found out He LITERALLY told me "you can use formula, we have that now. Besides I dont think your body could make enough milk to properly feed a baby anyway" i was 90lbs and size 3. I have ALWAYS been a tinny stick. Even now at 36 I'm only 100lbs. And still can fit in kid clothes. .. and people don't understand what us true women have to go through.

For my first baby at Walmart, they let me use the manager office. By the time I had my second baby, they turned that office into a mother's room.

in 2009, I was employed at The Home Depot in York, PA and they made me use the public bathroom to breast pump. After months of complaining, I was finally given an unused managers office, but only because a kind customer saw what I was doing and made threats.

The bosses that approved this should be forced to eat food made in a bathroom, see how they like it 😂

When I had my first one I had to either pump in the bathroom or out in my car. If I went to my car, I'd get yelled at. Second kid, they made me a 'lactation room'. It was literally a wooden dining room chair in a coat closet with a small wooden shelf on the wall, saw dust from when they remodeled it, and a single light bulb hanging from a cord with the light switch outside the door. Oh yeah, and this was in a bathroom. Someone would shut off the light about every other time I was in there. Guess who I worked for? The federal government. 🙄

They wouldn't need this with Paid Parental Leave.

I was forced to pump in my car. I told them by law they had to provide a pumping station for me, so they made a little area in the break room (just put one of those fold out wall thing) and a regular chair.

Folks, that is what OSHA is there for. Document the issue, and fill out the form online. Know and protect your rights
