In 1995 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the same type of fertilizer was used to bomb the Federal Building downtown OKC! That was a truck stuffed with ammonium nitrate fertilizer. Imagine an entire ship filled with the same lethal stuff! It's definitely concerning!

How is this stuff packed? Road transport in Western Australia is now done in bulk tankers two yesrs ago on a two tanker road train the rear tank blew up. The cause was a faulty brake catching fire. Fortunately the blast was was in the middle of know where and the driver did the right saftey precautions. Another blew up in Queemsland recenrly howecver I am not sure of packageing. Nietber would have the deziel added. AN can when heated blow without deziel added. Beruit was similar and the Taxas City incident April 1947 leveling a 10000 houses and killing 583 with a ship carrying only 2300 tons. Normaly AN as a fertilizer is packed in bags similatr to cement. Although the cargo has been inspected in Norway who is to say that buried in the middle ibags of a stack does not contain detonation devices of some connivance? And that even deziel has not been mixed making it even more sensitive detonation. As the commentator says Putin (I don't think knowing rational Russians are at war) is at war and has threaten UK several times. If steam is passed into the holds it wiil oxidize as happened at Texas City and cause unstopabld thermal runaway to the point of explosion. A number of other hidden conveniences could explode the cargo.

If this goes down the Channel it will pass over the Channel tunnel, the WW2 wreck carrying 1200 of ordance mainly bombs is not far away and subject to sympayhetic detonation. London would see extensive damage. If towed down the channel in the middle all costal town on both sides eould be subject to damage. There is only one way out that is back to the middle of North sea and sink it.

If it explodes and causes extensive damage not a trace of the means of detonation would be traceable. It would be a civillian accident unless you could prove otherwise. So what is thecleagal position?

Certainly the English should have a right to inspect the ship for the truthfulness of the claim of damage. Barring that the ship should be towed by Russia with a Russian naval sea tug back to Russia regardless.

Ammonium nitrate is NOT explosive ? It merely releases oxygen in large amounts to Accelerate the combustion of the added combustible compounds. They then burn so fast and release gasses so quickly it creates an explosive force, especially if confined in a casing such as an oil drum. Potassium Nitrate works even better and is used in commercial explosives such as fireworks 👍🇬🇧🙏
