My transmission gave out last Wednesday on my way to school to take my midterm for automotive. my trailblazer wouldn't move in any gear so I knew the transmission had to come out. A shop was charging me 1500 to replace it for a used one. Thanks to this video, I had the courage and confidence to do this job myself. Not only did I remove the transmission, but I replaced it for a transmission from the junkyard that was 400. Yea it's not gonna be as good as a new or rebuilt one, but now if I ever have to replace it, I know I can do it for sure because I already done it before, and it was all thanks to you sir. Thank you for this video.

You have the best camera work out of any mechanic on youtube. Great video.

I bought a RWD Trailblazer so that this and a lot of other repairs it would be easier. Bought it cheap cus it needed front suspension work. I replaced most of the front suspension parts . Fortunately my trans is ok so far. I replaced the brownish fluid through the dipstick tube. I did several exchanges to get a good amount of the old fluid out. A proper pan drop and new filter is on my to do list. Love the car.

Good job getting that out, Nathan! While it's out, I would recommend replacing the flex plate. They are a known weak spot on these vehicles, and something tells me you don't want to do this again to replace it! I would also replace any seals on the engine that you can get to. Definitely replace the transmission fluid lines. Again, they are prone to rusting out, and they will be much easier to replace if the tranny isn't in the way. When I'm doing a job, I ask myself three questions about a part: 1. Is it prone to failure? 2. Is it prohibitively expensive? 3. Is it a real pain in the you know what to get too? If the answers are yes, no, and yes, it gets replaced. Thanks for posting this!

Man I wish this video was here when my transmission blew. I regret getting rid of my trailblazer for a new car. Have put more money into a new Kia than I’ve ever had to put into my Trailblazer

I’m getting here eventually. They can pry my 2008 from my cold dead hands. Just replaced everything cooling system wise except radiator, flushed ok, no visible damage either side. 128, 000 going strong.

I have a 02 Blazer ZR2 LS & it does cost $2200 for a tranny rebuild on the 4L60E.
When you run my VIN, my Blazer ZR2 shows up as a Trailblazer! Even on a scan tool, lol

The little metal clip you broke on the drive shaft near the cap was on mine as well.

I wasn’t sure what it was either, I just replaced my factory u-joints a few weeks ago and noticed it.

OK, so I lost count but I think this is your third Trailblazer...right? Why do you keep doing this to yourself Nathan? One rusted lump after another. Now for me, I'm the original owner of an '08 Trailblazer so I stopped with only one rusted lump. I just replaced the power steering cooler, fuel fill pipe, all sway bar links, both quick struts, upper/lower control arms with ball joints & rear shocks. What I removed was a big rusted pile of scrap. In all my 57 years, I've never seen a vehicle with so much rust in so many places. I live in Pennsylvania, but I've had lots of vehicles in my life and none have rusted as bad as this thing. Thanks for all the TB videos Nathan; you gave me the motivation to keep my TB going!
