Edit: it can’t be that old since the Apple pencil 1-in video-ain't compatible with iPads (base model, not airs minis or pros) until 2018. Ipad base is STILL not compatible with pencil 2 as of March 2022. I used to have the 2017 base iPad and it still can’t work w apple pencils. Using the pro 2021 because of that.

Edit 2: For everyone saying they have an ipad from 2017 or below: there are THREE TIERS of iPad: iPad (cheap and basic, $329 base price), iPad Air (midranger, $560ish base price, pencil compatible) and iPad pro ($800 base price for 11” model, pencil 1 compatible since 2015 and pencil 2 compatible since 2018). You can check which you have on the back, there’ll be a code in the format A1234 (with different numbers). Google that and you’ll get ur model.
