McCalls 7313 Pattern Review - Akram's Ideas Ep. 05-09

I've been needing more knit dresses in my wardrobe and recently #sewed up #McCalls7313. In this quick #patternreview I share what I like and don't like about this sewing pattern.

I'd love to know in the comments below if you have any suggestions for my fitting issues. I'm so bad at fitting patterns 😓

Nice review. I have found I need a narrow shoulder adjustment and a full bicep adjustment solves my issues with the neck gape and shoulder hang.

The dress is quite pretty! I drafted a neckband and that solved the gaping issue. I hope that helps

I love your pretty dress, the bright colors suit you very well as does the silhouette of the dress. May I suggest that the biceps area of the sleeves may be a little too tight and so pulling at your shoulder, neck, and under arm areas? I agree, it does look a particularly wide neck. I appreciate your honest review as I have this pattern next in line to make myself.

I’ve made this dress recently and also had the neck issue, did you ever remake the dress/add a neck band? I’d be interested to see how it turned out 😁

I don't know how you're getting stuff done while wrapping up a semester of teaching! I'm spending ~13 hours a day doing my schoolwork! I'm desperate to have sewing time! This one came out great, and the colors in the print are so pretty! I have so many knit dresses on my to-sew list. Maybe you could put some of that clear stabilising elastic inside the neckline to pull it in slightly? Is the bodice neckline faced? Or lined?

Can you possibly add a larger/wider neckband to make less of a low neckline and keep it from slipping off the shoulder? Even contrasting?

Would taking the shoulder seams in a bit near the neckline help or would it case waistline to rise more?

It looks great on you, but you don’t seem comfortable in this dress. It’s hard for me to judge a neckline till I get a garment made, so I get that.
