I don’t think people realize how huge it was to have a drivers airbag, ABS, and the availability of 4wd minivan in 1991. Chrysler was on fire.

1991 was the year I started high school. It was a marvelous time to be that age. It seems like only a moment ago.

A standard airbag in an economy car at that time is impressive

Wish it was early to middle 90s again. I enjoyed their cars & trucks from this era.

I remember in middle school in the early 00s my 70 year old teacher drove a Black Stealth turbo..she had gotten it new in 1991 to replace her old Datsun 280zx

My dad bought a brand new 91 Dakota with the 5.2 liter 318 v8. That truck lasted forever, well over 300, 000 miles! It was one cool truck.

That generation of Chrysler Minivans was great.

Chrysler's seats were very comfortable and plush in those times.

My friend had one of those Shadows and he broke the window when we were at a club because he got drunk and we had his keys. I also remembering understeering the hell out of it into a curb and realigning his steering. Good times! 🙂

Astounding that I would actually buy every one of these models from 1991 if they are sold today at the dealership. Absolute corruption that vehicles became so unreliable with electronics and not improving anything. Even gas mileage are marginally improved.

I was a freshman in high school when this episode aired. My family bought one of those Cherokee Sports - 2 doors, 5 speed manual w/ the 4.0L High Output straight 6. Fastest thing we ever owned at the time coming out of economy cars and 4-cyl pickups. Not the most reliable though. One particularly interesting failure was the clutch slave cylinder.

Fantastic lineup for 91. A $7, 000 economy car with airbags is unheard of. Even today thatd be a great value. And the spirit rt was a direct competitor to the Quad 442. Both of those cars were only around for 2 short years, but they made a massive impact on 4 cylinder tech. What an amazing time for cars at Chrysler. These days they have 0 cars, and 0 hope.

Spirit R/T, Stealth R/T and Talon TSI are all way better than any of the crossover junk they build now 😞

What does “Chrysler” sell now except for Jeeps built on foreign platforms?

My parents bought a 1991 Chrysler minivan in all white with the 3.3 litre V6. It was a nice minivan, I used it to go SCUBA diving to carry 4 people and all our dive gear. I dreamt of an Eagle Talon TSi but was in college and could not afford it. The good old days :)

When vehicles were built better and were affordable, not like the very overpriced junk today.

Great lineup for 1991. I'd gladly take that Cherokee, Wagoneer, Spirit, Shadow, Laser over anything Stellantis sells in the U.S. today. I had a 1992 Acclaim (same as the Spirit), and a 1990 Sundance (same as the Shadow). Both were excellent cars. Thrifty to own, reliable, and very comfortable.
