I have a sense the growing popularity of soccer will save America from its isolationism and ignorance. America's biggest sin is pride, yet I have seen videos of American college students who can't point to their own country on a map, let alone one country that isn't Mexico or Canada. I understand that Americans don't like soccer because it doesn't have the same physicality as football, but soccer is one of those sports that everyone is invited to play. Men, women, and children of all ages and shapes are welcome to play; all you need is a ball and imagination.

The history of soccer is so rich globally I really hope it spreads here in the States. It really is that powerful that it can cross borders between countries and cultures and make it all alright. People call it the 'beautiful game' for many different reasons but for me its simply the power to unite an entire continent and people from all over the world.

The U.S. is currently struggling despite the fact America really wants to be seen as the 'alpha'. Pride came before the fall and we are now experiencing the fall. The U.S. literally has everything besides culture. People in America see the country as a business and don't believe this won't backfire somehow.
