Purdue University Global graduates from around the world participated in commencement on August 14, 2021. Over 1,500 graduates were recognized at the ceremony, with approximately half of them attending in person at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. Virtual graduates had multiple viewing options, including a unique 360-degree experience that brought the Purdue Global graduation right to their homes.

Throughout the ceremony, Chancellor Frank Dooley highlighted graduates with high honors, graduate-level degrees, and military service. Graduates were also invited to submit videos to be showcased in the virtual hooding and ceremonial tassel turning. After listening to a commencement address from 2020 Purdue Global alum Christopher Fairbank, graduates celebrated their achievement as their names and degrees were announced and their photos and hometowns were displayed on screen. Graduates were congratulated on stage by Chancellor Dooley, and virtual graduates had the opportunity to experience a virtual stage crossing through the eyes of a 360-degree camera. Before the ceremony, graduates enjoyed a week of interactive virtual activities, including a photo booth, shout out board, and the Last Lecture presented by a professor, Jeff Gulley, who was nominated by the graduating class.
