To me there will never be anything quite like the original wave of Black Metal music. The rawness of Bathory's first album is my favorite. I especially love the guitar solos at the 2nd half of this song. Feels like a real establishment of the Black Metal sound.

I really can't understand why people are comparing Bathory with Venom. They were the two that invented Black Metal. Venom gave its name, Bathory gave its shape. Both bands are great. Simple as that.

Bought this back in 84 when it came out. I'd forgotten how massively buzzy and trebly the guitars were, how you can hardly hear the drums or bass. Still loved it at the time, hadn't heard anything like it before.
