Ukrainian Forces Release Video Of Destroyed Bridge, Military Vehicles At River Crossing

Ukrainian military forces released footage on Thursday which it said shows destroyed Russian military vehicles and a pontoon bridge in eastern Ukraine. The video appears to show several burnt-out military vehicles and a bridge, seemingly broken into several parts and partly submerged underwater.

Holy cow! I counted 9-11 vehicles by the river and another 8 or so in the woods. There's probably more that got blown to pieces, unrecognizable. That's a lot of destruction in a single blow. wow!

I'm torn between reveling at such a spectacular victory, shock at continued Russian incompetence, and grief at so much death in such a short time-span.

The really shocking thing is that the Russians didn't take all of these losses all at once. They have conducted the same river crossing, in the same spot, at least four or five times so far. Each attempt has been just as much of a disaster as the last. I can understand one failed attack. That's just the price of doing business in a high intensity war against a peer opponent. But to repeat the same blunder, over and over, almost half a dozen times? It's stunning. How is it possible to be so incompetent? Don't they understand that they aren't the Soviet Union anymore? They don't have the endless manpower and equipment reserves of the old Soviet Union. And yet they are treating their forces as if they are just as expendable as Soviet forces were!

Some Western news outlets are saying that about 70-80 armored vehicles have been destroyed. If this is correct, the Russian military has lost a complete front line Battalion Tactical Group (BTG) along with supporting troops in a single attack; at least 1, 500+ soldiers. All of this catastrophic destruction using just artillery fire and flying cheap drones for artillery spotting, against a Russian front line BTG force.

Close up analysis of the area has shown that the mainstream media is greatly exaggerating the losses. Several of the vehicles are still operational and several tank tracks are seen crossing charred areas. Some vehicles are clearly burning and damaged, but others show no damage. It was a tactical setback but has not affected Russia's steady advance in the Donbas. The media also ignores the fact that some Ukrainian river crossing attempts were destroyed by the Russians.
